For theatregoers, Marc Tarrida Aribau (Igualada, 1996) is one of the emerging actors who stands out in such interesting productions as Archimedes' principle, which returns this August 20 to the Texas Theater, or how it was The criminals at the National Theater, or what it will be like in December with the re-release of the heartbreaking comedy Look at these sons of bitches in El Maldá. For radio listeners, he's a regular contributor to La Ser, especially in the summer, where he's been co-hosting the midday program for four years. And for younger listeners, he's a content creator who has gained popularity with videos of him making jokes in towns, demonstrations, and festivals, "playing on the fine line between laughing with someone and at them without ridiculing them," he explains, citing Peyu and Joel Díaz as role models.

The monster Josep Maria Miró tells us about lives in a small rural community very similar to the one where the multi-award-winning tragedy took place. In addition to the geographical and mental space (or perhaps because of that very reason), in The monster, as in the aforementioned works, the strange and the incomprehensible become evident within a framework of tense violence.

What do we do with the monstrosity of others? Can we come to understand and dialogue with someone who has hurt us? What role does the community have in dealing with those responsible for abject actions? Theater often serves to seek answers, or at least to bring questions to the stage and make them resonate with the audience. This is the driving force behind two Grec Festival shows led by monsters: Who killed my father?, by Édouard Louis, directed by Pau Roca and starring Dafnis Balduz; and The monster, by Josep Maria Miró, directed by himself and starring Àurea Márquez, Joan Negrié and Albert Prat. The first premieres on July 1st at the Heartbreak Hotel (they will have three performances and are already sold out, but they will return in the fall) and the second will be at the Sala Beckett from July 3rd to 27th.

Josep Maria Miró (Prats de Lluçanès, 1977) is one of the leading exponents of contemporary Catalan drama. He has toured the world with his texts and has seen his theatre adopt different forms and languages, while he continued to write and premiere shows in our country.
