Although Broggi didn't see it, he is very aware of the impact it had on Catalan culture. Starring Anna Lizaran, Muntsa Alcañiz, and Quim Lecina, that production became one of the foundational pieces of contemporary Catalan theater. "It was a very surprising show that remained in the collective memory and became an untouchable text. It hasn't been performed again; the memory it left was too important," explains Broggi. Undeterred by the weight of this precedent, the director of La Perla 29 has decided to revive Per Olov Enquist's (1934-2020) work in a new version with Cristina Arenas, Joan Marmaneu, Clara Mir, and Jordi Llovet. The Night of the Tribades It premieres on Friday, March 6th at the Teatre de Sarrià.

Back to NataleLike Famosa dolls when Christmas approaches, the Library of Catalonia hosts Eduardo De Filippo's hilarious three-act comedy. Natale en casa CupielloThe fourth season of a show that premiered in 2010, was revived in 2011 and 2012, and could very well become a Christmas classic. "We'll do it every year as long as my body holds out," Pep Cruz told us after the performance. Perhaps so, because the comedy works wonderfully. Even better than ever, now that Pep Cruz's Luca—like a fine vintage wine—has gained in humanity and wit. The actor is one of the original cast members, along with Marissa Josa, Joan Arqué—the only two actors who have appeared in all four revivals—Màrcia Cisteró, Ramon Vila, Navidad Olivé, and Jordi Coromina. Now Lluís Marquès and Eduard Paredes join the cast, which is very well integrated thanks to the intelligent direction of Oriol Broggi, who carefully manages the histrionics, sets the gags, and even elicits an unusual round of applause for a bed during the transition from the first to the second act. A transition, like that from the second to the third act, that leaves a lasting impression due to its original, organized chaos with a distinctly Neapolitan feel.

After a very brief silence, he adds: “Trump.” The quote is his own in this case. Macbeth turned into a unique gothic cabaret that portrays the evil and stupidity of one of Shakespeare's great villains through 22 original songs. This proposal by Oriol Broggi is conceived as a tale full of fury but also humor with the undeniable contribution of the trio of musicians founded in 1989 in London.

The American actor left Canada to settle in Barcelona with his partner, the actress Laia Marull. At that time he was convinced that he was throwing his acting career overboard, but time has proven him wrong. Tarbet learned our language and burst onto the Catalan scene and audiovisual media with shows such as Things we said today (2010) and series like Unfaithful (2009-2011) and The Riera (2014-2016). Now he takes on the opposite challenge: he faces a show in English, In Macbeth song, which Oriol Broggi will direct from Wednesday at the Teatro de la Biblioteca, accompanied by live music from London's The Tiger Lilies and Màrcia Cisteró and Enric Cambray in the cast. In parallel, Tarbet is preparing a play about his experience in Catalonia over all these years.
