There are products that perfectly reflect the territory: a sulfite-free wine, a mountain pasture cheese, an organic oil made with regenerative criteria... Behind each one, there is a way of producing, living, and caring for the land. This essence is what BBVA wanted to recognize with the sixth edition of the Best Sustainable Producers Awards. This September, the promoters of the ten winning projects—announced in June—gathered to share experiences, present the physical awards, and highlight the transformative potential of the agri-food and rural sector.

BBVA has recognized three Catalan rural producers in the sixth edition of its awards for the best sustainable producers. These are Alta Alella, Viñas de Olivardots, and Font Rovira Agrícola. The recognition has also gone to five other producers from Aragon, Asturias, the Balearic Islands, Cantabria, the Valencian Community, and Galicia. In total, more than 800 applications have been received for these awards since their launch.

In 2023, Explotaciones Agrícolas Mas de Baix, from Tivissa, in the Ribera d'Ebre, received one of the awards for Best Sustainable Producers given by BBVA. Their commitment to organic farming on their farm, where they grow peaches, nectarines, apricots and flat peaches, earned them this distinction, which took into account their firm commitment to biodiversity and health.

In the Ebro Delta, Riet Vell produces and markets organic rice, pasta and legumes, guaranteeing sustainability in production and fair prices throughout the production chain. These values have made them winners of the Best Sustainable Producers Awards granted by BBVA in 2022.
