Edwards is a specialist in historical memory, commemorations, and transatlantic relations, and is one of the leading authorities on the study of how the United Kingdom and the United States have constructed the shared memory of their colonial past. A member of the Royal Historical Society, he has dedicated the last few years to researching the memory of the American Revolution.</p>]]></description>

It was the eleventh concert of the European tour of <em>Born in the U.S.A.</em> and some forty thousand people filled the venue and accompanied the voice of the Boss when he started with the song that gave its name to one of his most famous albums of that decade. The song, misinterpreted as a wholesale patriotic exaltation, was in reality quite the opposite: a denunciation of the way the country had abandoned a generation of its citizens. Springsteen himself complained about it, many years later (2016), in his book "<em>Born to run:</em> "</p>]]></description>
