Each episode is dedicated to a female cartoonist, comic artist, puppeteer, or illustrator from different parts of the world where power has stifled freedom of expression. You'll discover Doaa el-Adl in episode 3, the first woman to win one of Egypt's most prestigious cartooning awards. A courageous cartoonist, highly critical of the political and social context, she uses markers to combat the oppression suffered by women in her country. She has such talent for condensing the most heartbreaking ideas into a single panel that she'll compel you to watch the entire series and meet the other artists. You'll meet Amany al-Ali from Syria, threatened and denigrated for the content of her work; and Mar Maremoto, who uses her drawings to combat gender violence in Mexico and give a voice to the LGBTQ+ community. Also featured are Rachita Taneja, creator of a sharply satirical comic strip that has become very famous in India for its combative spirit; and Victoria Lomasko, a Russian exile, who portrays Putin's state violence through mural art.

But this writer and comic book scriptwriter often found doors closed to him, even though France is the land where comics are most valued. But football was losing that battle and couldn't break through the defenses of the European comic book industry, beyond older titles like Eric Castle.

I wanted and needed to talk about that time and that context, about summers of friendship that seemed eternal, where time passed without anything to do," explains screenwriter and cartoonist Javi Rey. Those personal and family memories have inspired one of the best comics of the year, We called him Bebeto (Norma Editorial), a story about summers spent on asphalt in the suburbs and the transition from childhood to adolescence in a humble working-class environment. Its cartoons are populated by children who spent their holidays playing soccer and who seemed destined to work in the factories in the area's industrial estates. "There weren't, like there are now, so many screens and distractions, nor so many stimuli. I think that time was the end of an era. Then, starting in 2000, the smartphones And with cell phones, teenage summers have become something else. I think my generation, those of us who were between 8 and 12 years old in the 90s, were the last to experience those summers on the street. You watched the Tour de France to see Indurain, you played soccer, you went to a nearby beach... ", recalls the author, adding: "It was a seemingly boring world, but over time you look back and realize that you experienced many things and that they were very intense weeks and months on an emotional level."

We do not fully give ourselves over to a new monologue format, but this timestand-up comedy is mixed with interviews of a more personal nature with seven protagonists of Catalan humor. Through a conversation with Ignasi Taltavull (co-author of The Ruin, deputy director of theIt's happening and screenwriter of Crackòvia), each comic reflects on a theme that obsesses him and that forms the backbone of the entire episode. Òscar Andreu analyses the situation of Catalans, Eva Soriano addresses the inevitable process of ageing, Tomàs Fuentes talks about pets, Irene Minovas deals with the feeling of frustration, Magí Garcia delves into the mysteries of death, Charlie Pee carries out a cathartic exercise on sex and Andrés Fajngold. Madhouses It also incorporates occasional interventions by anonymous people linked to the topic of the episode to fill out the programme. An eighth final episode offers a mishmash of previously unseen moments from the seven monologues that have been recorded for the programme.
