Last year BYD made history by becoming the first brand to surpass Tesla as the world's leading manufacturer of electric cars with more than 2,260,000 units sold, a figure that rises to 4,550,000 electrified cars if we add the sales of hybrid cars.

Chinese manufacturer BYD sold 2.26 million electric cars during 2025, far surpassing the 1.66 million electric cars that Tesla sold during the last twelve months across five continents.

YangWang U9 Xtreme is now the fastest car in the world. This electric sports car, which a few weeks ago broke the speed record for an electric car under the name YangWang U9 Track Edition, is now officially the fastest car in the world, after dethroning the Bugatti Chiron Supersport 300+, which until now held the honorary title of fastest production vehicle in history. It is worth remembering that YangWang is the luxury subsidiary of the BYD group in China, and that the brand plans to make the leap to Europe in the not too distant future.

Although it seemed that the traditional sedan segment was on the decline in Europe and that traditional manufacturers had decided to abandon the segment to focus on SUVs, the Chinese company BYD has decided to firmly commit to a sedan with three-box sedan and station wagon body styles, which it hopes to transform.

The Chinese manufacturer BYD has already strongly consolidated its position in the European market and has become the brand with the fastest-growing sales of electric and plug-in hybrid cars in the Spanish market during the first half of 2025, with a spectacular year-on-year growth of 700% thanks to having registered a total of 12,353 cars in Spain.

That China manufactures more electric cars than any other country in the world is no secret or great news, but the Asian giant's automotive industry can now boast a truly spectacular milestone: they have become the first to manufacture a production electric vehicle with a power output of over 3,000 hp and capable of challenging supercar records in the Bu. YangWang U9 Track Edition is the sportiest and most radical version of BYD's luxury subsidiary, a vehicle capable of beating the times of many Ferrari, Lamborghini, Bugatti or Porsche models on a track, to name a few of the illustrious names in the European automotive aristocracy.

The Chinese brand BYD aims to become the benchmark for affordable urban electric vehicles on the market with the commercial launch of the new Surf, an urban model with up to 156 hp of power and a range of up to 332 kilometers in the combined cycle approved WTLP with a price strategically positioned below 20,000 euros. The Surf aims to be more than just the eighth electric car that BYD has sold in Europe in the last three years, as this model aims to be the mainstay of the European commercial offensive and has its sights set on the Dacia Spring, the cheapest electric car on the market so far, and which has inferior performance and equipment to this new Chinese model.

The Chinese group BYD is no stranger to success: founded just 22 years ago, the Chinese giant is now the world's sixth-largest car manufacturer by volume and aims to continue expanding into segments previously off-limits to the group, such as luxury and high-performance vehicles. While at the beginning of the 21st century, Toyota created Lexus, Honda created Acura, and Nissan did the same with Inifiti, all with the aim of conquering the aspirational and high-performance vehicle segment, it's now the Chinese who want to replicate this strategy in their business model.

China dreams of leading the electric car market, and sales data point it toward this goal. The leading Chinese brand, BYD, has announced that by 2024 it will surpass the sales revenue of the current market leader, Tesla. BYD is the acronym for build your dreams [Build your dreams]. And dreams are starting to come true. The company is celebrating its strong results for the last fiscal year, which put it ahead of Tesla. While Elon Musk's company had a turnover of $97.7 billion, BYD surpassed it with revenues of $107.2 billion.

BYD is one of the automotive names that has been most active in recent years. What initially seemed like a brand that presented a limited range of electric vehicles, some of them even very luxurious (and, therefore, expensive), has gradually become a manufacturer that offers cars at very diverse prices and even with hybrid engines. The latest addition to BYD's extensive catalog is called the Sealion 05, and it is a 100% electric compact SUV that has just been presented in China and will arrive in Europe in the coming months.

Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer BYD has unveiled its new super e-platform that allows you to charge an electric car and give it up to 400 kilometers of autonomy in just five minutes, almost the same time it takes with gasoline in a normal combustion car.

For some years now, Chinese brands have been landing in Europe. Unlike traditional manufacturers from the Old Continent and the United States, Chinese brands are relatively unknown in the West, so the large industrial conglomerates of the Asian giant have chosen to acquire names from traditional European manufacturers to revive them and revive the former splendor of their name, as in the case of the brand. On other occasions, however, Chinese brands propose new names with local reminiscences, as in the case of Ebro, or directly imported from China, as in the case of Omoda or BYD.

BYD continues to grow. After recently presenting models such as the Seal U and the Sealion 7, it has now announced the arrival of the Atto 2 in our country, a compact electric SUV that lands with the intention of taking sales away from models such as the MG ZS, the Ford Puma Gen-E, the Smart #1 and the Kia EV3. To achieve this it has a strong argument: the price. Available in two versions (Active Urban Edition and Boost Urban Edition), it announces a price before subtracting the discount associated with the MOVES Plan of 29,990 euros, a figure to which a promotional discount must be applied that places it at 28,780 euros from the start.
