Outlawing associations that glorify Francoism has never been easy, but the Ministry of Culture has taken a decisive step to to end the Francisco Franco Foundation through legal means (FNFF). The Minister of Culture, Ernest Urtasun, has signed the procedure in accordance with the Democratic Memory Law and has notified the foundation of the agreement for its dissolution. This is a preliminary step to closing the pro-Franco organization, founded in 1976. After half a century of democracy, no government or institution has managed to close the doors of an entity that glorifies the figure of a dictator and, exceptionally in Europe, preserves a large amount of documentation. For the time being, the notification has been sent to the foundation, which has ten days to respond and submit its arguments. Then it will be in the hands of a judge to put an end to the long life of this foundation.

The curtain rises. Més por Mallorca spokesperson Lluís Apesteguia reminds the Balearic president, Marga Prohens of the PP, who broke the pact to maintain the democratic memory law after the agreement they had reached in December with the left-wing parties. The Balearic Government has now supported a Vox proposal to repeal it. President Prohens responds to MP Apesteguía, saying, "The dictator Franco died before you and I were born, and the only ones who chat are those on the left." The curtain closes.

EH Bildu will save the Spanish government's law of democratic memory. The party announced yesterday an agreement to support the Socialists' bill, which they want to pass at the Spanish parliament's extraordinary plenary session on July 11. EH Bildu has agreed with the state executive to declare Francoist courts "illegal and illegitimate" and all their resolutions and sentences void. Their support will be sufficient for the law to be passed, since the PNV, the PDECat, Más País and Compromís have also announced they will vote in favour. The regulation, therefore, could go ahead without ERC's support.
