One of the challenges is to create the maximum number of climate shelters, mostly public spaces (libraries, museums, community centers, community centers) designed to protect the most vulnerable during times of extreme heat. As shelters, they must maintain a maximum temperature of 27 degrees, be easily accessible, have chairs or benches for sitting, and provide free water. However, they do not offer medical care, a service guaranteed only in health centers.

The asphalt is boiling in the cities, apartments are suffocating in the densest neighborhoods, and in many towns, shade is a rare luxury. The heat wave is relentless, with record temperatures approaching day after day. But not everyone experiences it the same way. For some, it's a nuisance; for others, a threat.

But as we take a closer look at the concrete impacts of global warming, some areas of hope are emerging where life is making inroads, to the surprise (and wonder) of scientists. A large colony of Adélie penguins managed to remain intact in the Weddell Sea; a lake in Canada's boreal forest refreshes the surrounding environment; and even here in Catalonia, a butterfly that is disappearing due to climate change remains miraculously stable in some parts of the Jordà beech forest.
