Last year, seventeen women across the country were reported for allegedly filing false complaints in cases of gender-based violence. Only one case resulted in a conviction for the complainant. This represents just 0.0005% of the 199,094 victims who went to the courts specializing in violence against women. Data from the Public Prosecutor's Office, throughout its historical series – since 2009 – shows that cases of false complaints in cases of gender-based violence are statistically insignificant, a fraction of the total number of cases. Nevertheless, the myth surrounding this phenomenon often continues to be used as a weapon against victims.

Illegal street vending, drugs on public streets, and skyrocketing filth. This is what many residents and shopkeepers in Barcelona's Sant Antoni neighborhood have been experiencing for months. "We've reached the limit: either we report it now or it will get worse. We want a political reaction," say Sant Antoni Encants, one of the neighborhood associations that issued a letter on Monday to the Eixample and Ciutat Vella city councils to express their discontent over the "deterioration it is suffering." In it, they detail that the increase in uncivil behavior affects neighborhood coexistence and, in turn, has a direct impact on local businesses.

Months to receive a social benefit, years of waiting for a place in a public nursing home, or discontent over poor service. The slowness in responding to citizens is due to the fact that the Catalan administration is "slow, complicated, excessively bureaucratic, and obsolete in some cases." These are the words of the ombudsman, Esther Giménez-Salinas, who presented the institution's annual report to the Speaker of the Parliament, Josep Rull, in which she warns that complaints are growing at a very rapid rate. Largely responsible for this trend is the daily chaos of the Cercanías (Commuter Trains): if last year there were 160 complaints about the poor functioning of the trains, in the two and a half months of 2025 there have already been 397, more than double.

The week was marked by the political effects of Catalangate, such as ERC's refusal to support the Spanish government's decree on the consequences of the war in Ukraine. But there is another aspect that will also gain protagonism in the medium term: the court battle. This Friday, Òmnium has brought together four lawyers, some of whom were victim of surveillance themselves, at the University of Barcelona, in order to discuss the legal strategy for the lawsuits. Although they have not revealed all the details, they indicated who they would be directed against: Israeli spyware developer NSO; the Spanish National Intelligence Centre (CNI); the Guardia Civil; and the Spanish National Police. With this lawsuit they intend to clarify who made an "illegal" use of Pegasus, since they have insisted that no judge could have authorised spying on over sixty people, including lawyers, and if we had it would be a perversion of the course of justice.
