There are 131 fixed, posted speed cameras on the Catalan road network, in addition to other devices, ranging from Mossos d'Esquadra patrols to mobile radars, including road radars and even helicopters. And with these devices, a significant number of drivers in Catalonia are caught committing a speeding violation every day. Counting drivers who are going too fast—the vast majority of those fined—and those who are going too slowly, up to 2,600 drivers are fined every day, according to data from the Catalan Traffic Service for 2024 and 2025, to which ARA has had access.

The Generalitat (Catalan Government) has decided to install three new weather radars in the Alt Pyrenees to anticipate, in advance, potential flooding at campsites in this area. This is one of the main measures outlined in the new decree law that the Government is expected to approve this Tuesday. It aims to assess the flood risk of each campsite and the measures they must take to ensure protection in the event of bad weather or flash floods.

This Monday, the traffic law approved by the Spanish parliament on December 2 came into force. It is an update of the point-based driving license, in force since 2006. The new text toughens punishments for having a cell phone in your hand while driving and puts more limitations on drivers of electric scooters, who will have to wear a helmet at all times and are definitively banished from pavements.
