In 2025, he has been embroiled in a web of scandals at the head of the Spanish executive: Santos Cerdán and José Luis Ábalos, his right-hand men in leading the PSOE, have gone to prison; his family is under judicial investigation; and numerous other cases of corruption or sexual harassment are making headlines. Parliamentary defeats, often caused by the partners who facilitated his investiture, also added an extra layer of political fragility. The withdrawal of formal support from Junts, the crisis within the Sumar and Podemos coalition, and the failure to honor promises made to his partners have turned every negotiation into a parliamentary battle of attrition.

Soaping up Trump has become the new diplomatic practice for dealing with the United States. Remember the day British Prime Minister Starmer handed Trump, in front of cameras, an envelope containing an invitation from the King of England to visit the islands on an official visit? Trump was delighted and showed him around. Well, this morning the envelope scene was repeated. During a dinner in Washington,

You'll hear everything but pretty things: no enthusiasm, no new impetus, no hope. "I am the captain and the captain does not abandon" rang in TitanicSánchez has the face of a loser. Tough, but a loser, thinner and suffering because the people he trusted have led him into a huge crisis. The only thing holding him up is that the parties that voted for him in the investiture have not withdrawn their support. And yet another problem for SánchezHe has the deep state against him. Who knows what they'll get out of him, whether it's true or not, because we've seen that dirty trick before. Remember what Aznar said in the PP Congress: "If you make deals with criminals, don't be surprised if you end up in prison." The allusion to Sánchez couldn't be clearer.
