A vibrant, fun, and unashamedly political performance by the Irish trio Kneecap at the Apolo on Sunday, closing the Primavera Sound concert halls in Barcelona. The album's authors Fine art, One of the best albums of 2024 according to ARA, offered an hour of hip-hop (in Irish and English) between the determination of classics like Public Enemy and the spirit rave more incendiary, to celebrate the Irish language and an eminently festive, combative anti-British activism. Because Kneecap, formed by musicians from West Belfast and Derry, is not a group from Northern Ireland, but from the North of Ireland. "The solution? That all outdoor seating be closed at ten o'clock at night and then we'll sleep for sure". This is Isabel and Marta's verdict, sitting on a bench in the Jardins de la Mediterrània, large square in Marina neighbourhood of Barcelona, but which does not close at night and is home to bars, most with outdoor seating and one which opens till late. "There is always activity here... and, of course, noise", these neighbours sum up. In total, nine outdoor seating areas with about thirty tables. Arguments and fights often break out, and chairs are thrown. Sporadically objects are also thrown from windows towards the customers, some restaurateurs report.

"We hadn't gone out a single Thursday since we started uni!" Judit, Laia, Tània and Yema are 19 years old, they are from Berga and they have been sharing a flat for two years. But it's the first time they've been able to go out partying in Barcelona because clubs have been closed for a year and half – they've only opened for a couple of few weeks in summer. That's why the girls didn't want to miss the reopening of nightlife: "We were really looking forward to it". The first night could be felt in some clubs in Barcelona, which filled up and saw large queues outside. Everybody had to show their ID and their covid pass to get in, which meant the queues were slow.
