In this situation, Jéssica Albiach's party is spreading the word to the European Union and is preparing to activate, through its MEP, Jaume Asens, "all mechanisms" to stop the expansion of the airport infrastructure. The Comuns denounces that the extension of the third runway to accommodate more intercontinental flights will increase tourist overcrowding and polluting emissions, and promises to do everything possible to ensure that the European Commission vetoes a project that, furthermore, It affects the protected natural areas of Ricarda and Remolar."We will use Europe to stop enlargement," say party sources consulted by ARA.

The next scene usually moves to a control center filled with huge screens, where you can see all the security cameras and the officers trying to find the fugitive's face in the crush of people. They approach, recede, rotate, change, and, in the most optimistic films, there's facial recognition. Cinema isn't so far from reality, and one July afternoon at El Prat Airport, two Mossos d'Esquadra officers look at six screens. Each one displays a mosaic of between six and nine cameras. They zoom in and observe a face. They turn right and notice a boarding queue. They zoom out and see a wide shot of Terminal T1. What exactly are they looking for?

This is good news, but the phenomenon is exploding. Every night, Barcelona is a vast open-air dormitory. Tents are set up near the Ciutadella fence. On Wednesday, as we were coming down from the Montjuïc stadium, people were already preparing for the bed on the mountainside. In the Eixample, any entrance to a facade, a shop door, or a garage door, any space under a balcony, is often a dormitory protected by a fence taken from the street and marked "Barcelona City Hall." It's even the home where dozens of people spend the day stretched out on a sleeping bag or a mattress as filthy as a fox, passing the hours, perhaps hoping no one will take their place, especially if there's a fountain nearby or the sun hits them in winter. Some haven't left the same streets for years, and you often see them huddled together, still as a statue in the first corner they find, their eyes closed, as if they've lost all contact with the outside world, despite being surrounded by millions of people.

The three administrations plan to sign a contract, to be renewed annually, in which the Catalan government commits to providing half a million euros to cover the basic needs and social support of these individuals. In fact, this involves returning to the special plan for homelessness that began in 2011, but was halted at the end of 2023 when the previous agreement expired and was not renewed for political reasons. El Prat Airport (El Prat) is urging a date to sign the text so that it can be "formalized as soon as possible."

This role has been assumed this Wednesday by the president of the Spanish government, Pedro Sánchez: "The government parks the expansion project of El Prat"; he said. The subject of his sentence, it goes without saying, was the Spanish executive. Sanchez, however, has again insisted that the cause of this decision is the same that the Minister of Transport, Raquel Sanchez, made last Thursday, when she announced by surprise that the work on El Prat was suspended: the lack of consensus with the Generalitat, a consensus seen as essential. "There is not a mature position in the Generalitat in favour of the extension", she added.
