The man arrested for murdering his ex-partner's daughter in Murcia will be investigated for vicarious violence, the first such case this year in Spain, according to the Ministry of Equality. The 48-year-old man was arrested on Tuesday and has already been brought before a court. According to the child's mother, the man took advantage of a car trip with the five-year-old girl, Nadia, to give her pills that caused her death. "She's already in heaven," he told his mother when she called to tell her what he had done.

On the night of 24 August Martín Ezequiel Álvarez Giaccio avoided the front door to leave Hotel Concordia in Barcelona, where he had just killed his two-year-old son by suffocating him. In a few minutes, the man took a taxi to Terminal 1 of El Prat airport, which was the place where he put an end to an escape that, according to the Mossos d'Esquadra, he had not planned. The police think that, once in El Prat, the man ran around the outside of the airport "with the aim of not being seen". He jumped the fences of the enclosure until he reached a wooded area next to the Llobregat, where he committed suicide by hanging himself with the belt he was wearing.

The father who killed his two-year-old son at the Hotel Concordia in Barcelona on 24 August committed suicide near El Prat airport. The Mossos d'Esquadra have found his body this Wednesday at noon in a wooded area and it has already been confirmed that it is Martin Ezequiel Álvarez Giaccio, the 44-year-old man they were looking for. As reported by the High Court of Justice of Catalonia (TSJC), the body is "fully identified". The judge on duty at El Prat has made the lifting of the body this afternoon, a few hours after the police had located the body. The Mossos worked with the hypothesis that Alvarez could be dead and finally found him next to the airport, on land owned by Aena. The man had hung himself and had no documentation on him.

The Mossos d'Esquadra have appealed for citizen collaboration to find the man who allegedly murdered his two-year-old son in a hotel in Barcelona. In an unusual gesture, police have released a photograph of Martin Ezequiel Alvarez Giaccio, a 44-year-old resident of Vendrell, described as a man 1.78 meters tall and with an athletic build, with brown eyes and now has a trimmed beard and shaved hair. The man has been wanted since Tuesday night, when the boy appeared unconscious in the room of the Hotel Concòrdia, on the Paral·lel of the Catalan capital, in the Poble-sec neighbourhood. The images of the hotel establishment captured the escape of Alvarez jumping the fence of the pool. Since then they have lost track of him, and the search operation has been extended to Catalonia.
