Some media outlets emphasized the Madrid president's conflictive attitude. Cuatro, for example, summed up the headline with "Isabel Díaz Ayuso attempts to disrupt the Conference of Regional Presidents". They also defined his conduct as "a snub to the Catalan and Basque president". To illustrate the context of this situation, they included Salvador Illa's comment in which he spoke of the richness of the country's languages: "Understanding this is understanding Spain," and they described it as "a real dig at Ayuso".

But this is a mistake. The exercise of opposition and control of the government should be compatible with dialogue and a willingness to reach agreements for the benefit of the community. And this is not the case. All ships have been burned and all bridges demolished. All that remains is the permanent electoral campaign and the environmental outcry. We will pay for it. In many respects, with the degradation of the system and a widespread loss of confidence in the parties and their leaders. The alternation in power should not follow the pattern of the previous destruction of the adversary. But experience and political practice show that over these decades of democracy in Spain, the conviction has taken root that prosperity and change of cycle are only achieved through scorched-earth policies.

It is a format that can only work if there is a minimum of institutional loyalty and political will to reach cross-party agreements, two ingredients that have completely disappeared from the Spanish political landscape today. The tension felt in Madrid has spread to Barcelona for a day, and the men The Popular Party, although they participated correctly, refused to sign any agreement and took the opportunity to call early elections for Pedro Sánchez, who has already made it clear that he intends to complete his term. In other words, the institutional deadlock between the Popular Party's autonomous communities and the Spanish government will continue to be the norm for the time being. A situation that only has a few losers: the citizens of those territories.

On Sunday, it will demonstrate in Madrid under the slogan "Mafia or democracy," but on Friday, its main leaders will meet in Barcelona with the hood of that supposed mafia, Pedro Sánchez. It is true that they have managed to impose their points on the agenda, but this was not the objective of the maneuver: what the men The Popular Party (PP) was an excuse to snub Sánchez and avoid having to take a photo with him. However, the snub also had a drawback: it also meant snubging the King of Spain.
