The forest fire that started this Tuesday between Amer and Susqueda (Girona), in a difficult-to-access area above the Torrent de Palou, is now under control. 15 firefighter crews are still working to completely extinguish the blaze, which was worrying because it had three active sources.

"I have lost everything: I had old photos and mementoes of my parents and family, clothes, two very large aquariums, also a miniature train line I was assembling with 40 engines... My whole life has gone up in flames". This is the hard and overwhelming summary made bu Jordi, a 66-year-old resident of the River Park housing estate in Pont de Vilomara, who only a month ago saw it all disappear due to the Pont de Vilomara fire that burnt down over 1,700 hectares of land and around sixty houses, including his own.

Firefighters are working to extinguish a fire in Castell d'Aro (Baix Empordà) that has already affected between 50 and 55 hectares of vegetation and has the potential to burn up to 250 hectares. The fire broke out this Friday at 12.40 at the bottom of a ravine and up to 75 crews (60 ground and 15 air), have moved to try to contain the flames' advance. The fire started in the area of Can Manel, at the bottom of a ravine, and the wind helped it spread rapidly towards an area surrounded by scattered housing developments, farmhouses and a golf course. Civil Protection has evacuated around 350 people because of the smoke.

New day of fighting against the fire that broke out yesterday between Llançà and Port de la Selva.
