Cervera will once again become one of the epicenters of Catalan classical music this Easter. From March 26 to April 4, the capital of the Segarra region will host the 16th edition of the Easter Festival, a unique event within the country's musical landscape because it is the only one dedicated entirely to this repertoire. The program will include 14 concerts held in various venues throughout the city, featuring a combination of symphonic, choral, chamber, and contemporary music. Among the invited ensembles and performers are the Julià Carbonell Symphony Orchestra of Lleida, the Chamber Choir of the Palau de la Música Catalana, Polifemo Consorte, the Cobla Sant Jordi, and the Prysma Quartet, as well as soloists such as Marta Mathéu, Miquel Villalba, and Joel Bardolet.

When spring filters like a secret through the mist and the light timidly lengthens, the MUD rises once more as a refuge for restless ears. Nineteen editions later, the Festival Músicas Dispersas exudes maturity and consolidates a singular perspective: understanding roots music not as a museum piece, but as living, permeable matter, capable of mutating by engaging with the present without losing the essence that anchors it. In times of algorithms and predictable programming, the festival persists in its purpose with theopen minded folkOpening up daring spaces for discovery, and connecting tradition and contemporary art without abandoning the commitment that nourishes it. From March 12 to 15, venues such as the Café del Teatro, the Enric Granados Auditorium, and the Teatro de la Lonja will host an eclectic program that will take us from the dub from South Asian influences, passing through the folk American influences leading back to the roots of Ebro tradition.

Rec.0, Igualada's emerging fashion festival, kicks off its latest edition tomorrow, Wednesday (and runs until Saturday). Now in its second year (since its debut in 2009), this autumn sees the addition of several new brands, some with international reach. Nike (through the Base store), the sportswear brands Salewa (Germany) and Dynafit (Austria), and the Italian boxing brand Leone are arriving in the capital of the Anoia region to join other multinationals that have long been associated with Rec.0, such as Levi's, Adidas, Converse, Puma, and New Balon. Despite the presence of these major brands, the organizers are emphasizing the importance of maintaining their identity as a local festival. They assert that 80% of their brands are still based in Catalonia, both small and large, citing well-known names like Brownie (also a new addition this year), Munich, Antonio Miró, Textura, and Punto Blanco, among many others.

The peasant revolt, expressed in noisy demonstrations, but also in provocative actions such as turning village entrance signs upside down, has inspired the new Brots festival, which will be held from October 30 to November 2 in several villages in the Baix Empordà region. It will combine music, dance, and visual arts as a tribute to a land where "for millennia, the people of the grove worked their backs off to extract green gold from the olive trees." Organized by the Musical Youth of Torroella de Montgrí, Brots is an anti-festival that deliberately distances itself, in terms of its conception and dates, from the large summer festivals that attract crowds and are mostly held by the sea. "It's an initiative designed for everyone, but especially for the people of the country and the farmers, and to highlight that hinterland that is discovered when you look at land and not at sea," says Martí Sabrià, festival advisor.

The Cerdanya Film Festival (CFF) is halfway through its 16th edition, a longer edition than usual, since It started on July 29 and will close on August 17."It's something extraordinary that we won't be doing anymore because this is an emergency format," explains Jordi Forcada, the festival's director. "The cinema in Puigcerdà closed, and the City Council said they didn't have the budget to organize activities. I asked them if they hadn't planned anything, how about programming a few more films, and they said yes."

Twenty years ago, reusable cups began to gain popularity to reduce the accumulation of plastic waste during local festivals. In Catalonia, the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB) pioneered the returnable cup system with deposit, and the model spread to municipalities such as Molins de Rei, Rubí, and Girona. More and more administrations have taken the step of eliminating disposable cups, and now major social and cultural events and music festivals are doing so, as required by law. However, the Rezero Foundation notes that behind compliance with the law lies "a business model" based on greenwashing (greenwashing, in English).

The Fringe Festival will fill Torroella de Montgrí with promising young musicians. For three days, from July 18th to 20th, they will showcase their artistic offerings to the public while also mingling and sharing experiences with other musicians, cultural managers, programmers, music journalists, and professionals from the entertainment world. In its twelfth edition, the festival will offer a total of 18 concerts of classical, early music, jazz, and roots music, with the participation of some seventy artists. All concerts are free and will take place in different venues throughout the town: Plaza de la Vila, the Petit Cinema, La Sala, the Espai Ter auditorium, and the headquarters of the Vila Casas and Mascort foundations.

This is the fifth edition of the Vallviva festival and the first without the physical presence of Eudald Morera, who passed away last November at the age of 59. The promoter decided to organize the festival after being diagnosed with advanced cancer. "It's a festival born from the heart and gratitude. I wanted to thank life and the people for having been privileged to have been born where I was born and to have lived where I live. The festival has given me life," he told ARA in June two years ago. He pulled it off against his family's advice, who believed that what she had to do at the time was worry about her health. But when the family understood her absolute determination to pull off the festival two months later, from the very beginning, her eldest daughter, Mireia, was unconditionally by her side—as was the rest of the family—and now, at 27, she is the one who follows in her footsteps.

It is the 50th anniversary of the birth of the flagship music festival of theUnderground and counterculture in Catalonia in the 1970s. This year, Canet Rock celebrates half a century since that first edition, which was held under Franco's dictatorship and without government permission.

On October 4 and 5, the Old Estrella Damm Factory will once again host the Festí Fest, organized by the newspaper ARA and Fira Àpat. It's a festival born with the desire to create connections and share. When Eudald Morera—president of the Vallviva Foundation and director of the festival—was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, he thought of creating a celebratory space that fostered relationships between people in a privileged setting like the Vall d'en Bas. The goal wasn't financial or commercial gain; therefore, all proceeds go entirely to cancer research.

Yoga has created a hymn in the fog in Lleida. Under the title Meet you there, the song was composed by American singer-songwriter Hayley Reardon on the occasion of the The Yoga Gallery Festival, which for the second consecutive year will be coming to the capital of Segrià. Between June 19th and 21st, this competition will bring the intensive practice of yoga, combined with different artistic disciplines, to the city of Lleida.

After celebrating its fifth edition as a traveling festival through several Empordà municipalities, the Empordà Microvillages Performing Arts Festival (FASTT) has prepared a record-breaking edition with a lineup of 13 shows. This year, the festival is expanding once again and will take place between June 27 and July 27 in eleven municipalities with fewer than 1,000 inhabitants: Agullana, Espolla (a new FASTT municipality), Garrigàs, Ordis, Puente de Molins, Rabós, Sant Climent Sescebes, Siurana, and Vilamacolum.

With a line-up made up exclusively of musicians who sing in Catalan, as is the trademark of the house, the Campllong Music Festival will hold a new edition from June 25th to 29th, and will include a gastronomic space, the MusicanTast, where spectators can sample local cuisine. This year's guest musicians are Els Catarres, as part of their tour to present their new album; soprano Mireia Tarragó and musician Bernardo Rambeaud, who will open the festival with a performance in the parish church, interpreting pieces by Toldrà, Cassadó, and Morera; singer Mariona Escoda, who on the 26th will sing songs from her new album accompanied by her band; Manu Guix, with a review of the songs that have established him as one of the most acclaimed performers of Catalan music; and Mallorcan singer-songwriter Tomeu Penya, who will close the festival on the 29th with a performance as part of his 45 Years Tour. The concerts will be held in the church square and inside the church.
