This fact is surprising to tourists given the cleanliness of most streets. He replied, "It doesn't just bother tourists, it bothers the Japanese themselves." The question we should ask, then, is another: why are there so few trash cans in Japan? Japanese means "supreme truth." Five members of the sect spread across three different lines of the Tokyo subway during rush hour in the morning. They inhaled the gas, as it is toxic. The criminals punctured the bags so the gas would spread into the atmosphere. Some of the plastic bags were strategically placed in trash cans. The Japanese government's security policies. And one of the measures they decreed was the elimination of trash cans, urging the population to try to throw away all the garbage in their private homes or other buildings, even if that meant taking it along the street

In that town, they had a ritual: they would take a chicken and prick it with a needle. The chicken would run, fly, and they would chase after it as if it were a balloon, and they would prick it, everyone following the chicken, through the streets, everyone laughing. The poor chicken would end up in agony, lame and with its eyes wide open, and finally, it would die. Then they would pluck its feathers, and each child would hang one over their bed. It was a festival of national importance. Intellectuals would write essays reflecting on the greatness of pricking the chicken. The best filmmakers would make documentaries that everyone applauded. It was an integrative ritual that taught children not to be affected by the suffering of others. Above all, they learned that there are categories and that a chicken has no business being part of it. It was an integrative ritual unique to that town, since outside of that town, mistreating animals is frowned upon, as if it were related to mistreating people.

It is a text that was left pending in the previous legislature. The choice of this law as the first to be promoted by the new government is not an aseptic gesture: it is a declaration of intent. There is a broad consensus that the Next Generation funds simply reiterate that the way out of the pandemic crisis must be done by promoting economic projects with technological added value; in other words, companies and products that take advantage of applied scientific research and benefit from it. Science is knowledge and, properly transferred to society, it is also progress and wealth. Catalonia has a scientific tradition and has, thanks to the drive of the last two decades set in motion by Andreu Mas-Colell, a solid and competitive reality that now needs to be given a new boost. The task set in motion by Mas-Colell had continuity with the tripartite governments, and until today, but with economic hardship after the 2008 crisis. Now it is again a matter of joining political and academic wills to take a leap forward in the two pillars of any good research policy: the funding of projects and the establishment and consolidation of infrastructures.

The new European law which imposes a 40% reduction in trawl catches by 2025 has set Catalan and Valencian fleets on the warpath. Fishermen warn that the regulation endangers the continuity of one in two boats, according to calculations by the president of the Catalan federation of guilds, Antoni Abad. "We cannot keep boats that can only go out 120, 150 or 180 days a year, depending on the type of boat. We must to be allowed to work and we must all be allowed to do so equally", claims the fisherman, who also warns that if their demands are not met they will have to organise "more protest actions" because the entire fishing sector "is in danger".

After two failed attempts - in 2016 with the PP government and in 2018 with the PSOE government - the Spanish Parliament has approved this law on Thursday, which will now only need the approval of the Senate to come into force. Also known as the Rhodes Act because of the involvement of pianist and sexual abuse survivor James Rhodes, it aims to improve the protection of minors with new tools.
