It shows the consequences of vicarious violence and sexist violence on children, who are often unrecognized victims. And it does so through Carmela, a 12-year-old girl, who must periodically go to a meeting point to see her father, whom she idolizes. Little by little, however, the girl – and with her, the viewer – will discover who he really is and his way of exercising psychological violence.

The "next time" the three hitmen lodged about fifty bullets into Catherine Isabelle Castagna and her husband, Jacques René Grangeon. The Lyon clan did not like Castagna's threat and they gunned down the couple in their luxurious villa in the Las Lomas de Marbella urbanization. 50 bullets for the 500 million pesetas that Castagna and Grangeon owed them for losing a hashish game. One bullet for every 10 million (60,000 euros). In any case, we must consider, among other things we won't elaborate on here, the confluence of a new puritanism with the emotional immaturity of a seemingly significant portion of younger generations. This combination has created a communicative ecosystem where war becomes a sanitized, filtered narrative, ultimately disconnected from its devastating nature. Conversely, and also in a neo-puritan vein, when armed conflicts are framed in childish terms of transgression/punishment, images previously filtered through the sieve of political correctness abound.

Most headlines talk about "shocking," "tense," and "difficult moments." But the scene is much more than that. In Temptation IslandOn the show, where participating couples play a game of provoking infidelity and jealousy, a meeting was arranged between a woman named Almudena and a man named Darío. Upon discovering their respective infidelities, which are part of the show's dynamic, the program summoned them to the "mirror challenge": a beach encounter where they could only communicate through gestures, with a huge transparent methacrylate screen between them. They were forbidden from touching or speaking. The program placed the man in front of the screen, while the woman was sent running along the beach in desperation. The woman had an unprecedented meltdown, screaming, swearing, and hitting the screen. She threw a coconut, which bounced and flew towards the presenter. The woman knelt down to beg for forgiveness, bellowing uncontrollably. She lost control, whether for emotional reasons or simply out of obedience to the show. The scene is sold as "reality," whether induced or fabricated. What viewers witnessed was humiliation and a scene filled with aggression and hatred. The man also raised his fist and banged on the screen. The screen seemed to contain a physical assault. The presenter, Sandra Barneda, with terrible arrogance and condescension, scolded her, warning her not to use words and only gestures. When she ended the spectacle, the girl was devastated and in a state of chilling hysteria, crawling on the sand. Barneda, beyond telling her to breathe, pretended to calm her with phrases likeYou have to trust that, whatever happens, it will all work out for the best." either "If this has happened, is there anything that can be done about it?"And he gave him orders:"Are you going to be strong?"All this accompanied by romantic music and a sunset.

Violence against healthcare professionals is a real problem with serious consequences for both staff and the quality of the healthcare system, warns the World Health Organization (WHO). In Catalonia, at least 2,000 violent incidents against doctors, nurses, administrative staff, and other healthcare workers occurred in 2024, the Catalan Health Department reported on Thursday. These are the first official figures on violence against healthcare workers, as records are currently incomplete—not all public or private centers report cases—and there is no mechanism to financially penalize perpetrators. The department now aims to address these shortcomings, arguing that the data shows the situation has worsened in recent years and particularly affects (76% of cases) primary care centers (CAPs), outpatient clinics, and information desks—the entry points to the healthcare system. Among the behaviors considered violence against these professionals are raising one's voice, intimidation, insults, or threats, whether in person or through social media, as well as assault or causing property damage inside or outside healthcare facilities. According to data from the Catalan Health Department (Salut), of all violent incidents recorded in healthcare centers, the majority (89%) were non-physical, and the causes were diverse, such as the perception of the care received and the user's demands, which may or may not have been related to medical treatment. The department has also reported that, of the assaults it is aware of, more than two-thirds (77%) were committed by the users or patients receiving care, and 24% of the aggressors were repeat offenders. By professional profile, doctors suffered the most violence (30%), followed by nurses (24.9%) and administrative staff (24.8%). While 64% of the aggressors were men, 73% of the victims were women. The regional health ministry has explained that it is making progress in developing a legal framework to sanction those who commit any type of violence against healthcare professionals through a draft bill. Administrative fines will be incorporated to strengthen the protection of healthcare personnel. The public consultation on this legislation is scheduled for the first quarter of next year. Furthermore, in coordination with the Department of the Interior and the Mossos d'Esquadra (Catalan police), a protocol for action in situations of violence has been agreed upon, along with support in managing violent situations that occur in centers and services, including the processing of complaints. Public and private registry

The Catalan Health Department launched the "Zero Tolerance Against Violence Against Healthcare Professionals" campaign this Thursday, aiming to raise public awareness about the need to respect healthcare professionals. The campaign was launched by the Observatory for Situations of Violence in the Healthcare Sector of Catalonia (OSVASC), an initiative of the Directorate General of Healthcare Professionals, in conjunction with the Catalan Health Service (CatSalut), the Catalan Health Institute (ICS), unions, employers' associations, professional associations, healthcare providers, and other organizations within the healthcare system. One of OSVASC's main challenges is to promote and consolidate the registry of cases of violence against healthcare professionals in order to identify the factors that can trigger these situations and the circumstances in which they occur. The registry classifies situations into three categories: physical, non-physical, and damage to property. "Having this information will allow the Department to better understand the phenomenon and to promote more effective prevention and protection measures," the Health Department stated in a press release. Currently, the registry is implemented in 45 healthcare entities representing nearly 400 healthcare centers. Starting in January 2026, data from ICS centers will be incorporated into the registry, specifically from eight hospitals and more than 300 primary care centers (CAPs), and the rest of the rollout will be completed throughout the year. The registry will also progressively integrate data from private centers, and this is expected to be available during the first quarter of 2026.

The report, presented this Thursday, is titled Study of violence and inequalities in Catalan audiovisual mediaThe study interviewed 52 people of color, gender non-conforming individuals, LGBTQIA+ individuals, or people with disabilities. Based on these conversations, the analysis concludes that the majority of these individuals "have suffered violence throughout their working lives in the Catalan audiovisual sector," while "remedial or protective measures implemented by the industry itself are practically nonexistent." "The study stems from an initial approach by Mujeres Visuales (Visual Women) using their own data. They observed that many groups are underrepresented in the industry, and we wanted to understand the reasons for this absence," explains Maria José Masa, one of the UB researchers who participated in the study. The report identified three cases of physical assault in the workplace and states that "although infrequent, they are notable for their persistence." In contrast, it confirms the existence of verbal abuse, which "is the most frequent in the sector and is primarily motivated by racism and sexism," workplace harassment, and abuse of power. The study exposes situations of symbolic violence such as "unwelcoming work environments, condescending and paternalistic attitudes, and men's appropriation of women's proposals and ideas."

As reported by El Caso and confirmed by ARA, the suitcase was found by a cleaning worker this Saturday morning next to a dumpster on Carrer del Aigua, very close to Plaça de l'Anxaneta. The worker notified the emergency services at 7:39 a.m., and the local police and Mossos d'Esquadra quickly cordoned off the area. Shortly after, according to police sources, municipal police officers arrested a man, the deceased's roommate, as the prime suspect in the crime. The arrest came after a brief chase: the alleged murderer, when the local police arrived at the apartment where they lived, attempted to flee by jumping off the balcony to another building. According to ARA, it was a squatted apartment on Lepant Street, not far from where the body was found. The goal: to "avenge" the attack on a 68-year-old man last week, allegedly at the hands of young men of foreign origin. And according to Andrés Pedreño, a sociologist and professor at the University of Murcia, the wave of violence against immigrants in that town has a strong ideological component and is encouraged by Vox.

On Wednesday, a 68-year-old man was beaten in the street early in the morning, sparking a wave of violence by far-right groups who have traveled to Torre Pacheco with the aim, they say, of "avenging" the attack. They claim it was carried out by three young men, at least one of North African origin, and have targeted immigrants. However, the police have not yet revealed the suspect's nationality. All of this has led to two consecutive nights of racist harassment and street clashes. Below, we explain the key factors behind this escalation of violence.

Typically, around 20 people are present at night. The damage caused by the throwing of flammable substances and blunt objects is currently being assessed, which has damaged part of the facade and furniture inside the facility, such as a sofa, as well as a vehicle that was outside. The Mossos d'Esquadra (Catalan police) have opened an investigation into this case, which, in addition to identifying the perpetrators of the attack, aims to clarify whether this morning's action is directly related to the incidents this week in Piera involving young people in care and people from outside the center.

After receiving three calls for incidents on Júpiter Street, the two ARRO units that responded were attacked by the same residents, who were tearing at each other with objects and stones, causing serious injuries to the officers. One of them, in fact, required 20 stitches. "A tragedy, injured officers and split heads," an ARRO officer explained to ARA. The Mossos arrived because of a fight between families living in the neighborhood and ended up receiving the wrath of the neighbors: everyone turned on them. One of the main theories is that the trigger for the fight was a conflict over drug trafficking.
