His vast and extraordinary output is spread throughout Catalonia, primarily among the museums of Figueres, Portlligat, and Púbol. This is the case with a fantastic folding screen or screen made with oriental motifs, created by the artist in his earliest period, when he was a teenager. It is now being presented for the first time at the Salvador Dalí Birthplace Museum in the center of Figueres, until September 13.

We were drawn in by the curiosity that the murky world of Salvador Dalí often evokes, and by the narrative suspense of Dr. Narcís Bardalet. The combination worked. The forensic expert, the protagonist, unfolds the stories as if telling ghost stories by the fire, with the inevitable suspicion that there's more to his tale than substance. He speaks with a conviction and authority that transform his perception into a kind of singular and definitive truth. But above all, he plays on the morbid fascination that often surrounds the handling of corpses. The journalist Manel Alías acts as an interlocutor, allowing the events to unfold gradually. The dialogue between these two professionals constructs an interesting and spontaneous script, making the viewer feel included in the conversation.

He had already played him in the theater and brought him to the cinema with The Angelus case, Dalí's fascination (2023), a film that explores the Empordà painter's obsession with Jean-François Millet's painting and which will now be released in more than seventy theaters in France.

Now, a new phase is opening in which the institution aims to achieve greater cultural influence, driven by having achieved excellent results in 2024: a record number of 1,005,073 visitors to the three Dalí museums and more than 3.5 million cumulative visitors to the international immersive exhibitions, as well as a financial surplus. "From now on, we want to be more of a cultural foundation than a foundation that is solely a museum and talks about audience figures," says Mercader.

For Elliott H. King, professor of art history and curator of the exhibition Dalí: the late work in Atlanta, "the revival of the painting in all its dazzling colour shows it to be one of Dalí's most successful and elaborate works of the post-war period". Cosmic Madonna is a 152.5 x 91.5 cm oil painting dated from 1958 that mixes an interest in mysticism and atomic energy. It had been seen in a couple of exhibitions in the late 1950s and in another in New York in 1965, but since then it had decorated a wall of the buyer's residence. In fact, the work is included in the catalogue raisonné of the Gala-Salvador Dalí Foundation, although it is only reproduced in black and white.
