According to data from the Catalan Traffic Service, accessed by ARA, of the 1,283 riders involved in accidents in 2025, 72 suffered serious injuries. The vast majority of accidents occur on urban roads, unlike on interurban roads, where they are rare. However, although Three drivers involved in accidents every day may seem like a very high number. In the last year, this figure has decreased significantly.

It is an update of the point-based driving license, in force since 2006. The new text toughens punishments for having a cell phone in your hand while driving and puts more limitations on drivers of electric scooters, who will have to wear a helmet at all times and are definitively banished from pavements. These are all the changes in the text:

All this according to the study The behavior of users of personal mobility vehicles in Barcelona (2021), carried out by the RACC. The president of the organisation, Josep Mateu, has stressed the need to "promote knowledge of the rules of use" as well as "general traffic regulations", while considering that it would have to add signage to help users. In addition, he proposed that compulsory training, which could be free of charge, should be required in order to be allowed to drive these vehicles in the city.

The Emergency Medical Service (SEM) transferred the woman, slightly injured, to the Hospital de Sant Pau. The Guardia Urbana has identified the driver of the vehicle, but has not reported it, because it is still investigating the accident and has to determine whether it is responsible for the incident, according to municipal sources. The woman, to access the taxi rank, crossed the bike lane but through an area painted with white squares, called checkerboard. This gives her preference because cyclists and skateboarders have a yield sign. The driver of the electric scooter, who was riding a personal mobility device (PMD) with a seat and motor, crossed while the traffic light at the intersection ahead was green.
