It is also no secret that she declares herself devout. Now she has revealed a new detail: she loves masses attended by Francoism nostalgics. Last Tuesday Rodríguez, who has more than 70 million followers on Instagram, shared several videos and photos on social media of her visit to the Cuelgamuros Valley. In the images, Cristiano Ronaldo's partner can be seen attending mass in the company of some of her children. Rodríguez did not miss anything, and she shared it: the communion, the choir's singing, and the lighting of the incense. She also showed some details of the large Francoist monument, without mentioning at any time who built it and for what reason, nor the thousands of people buried there. She even took a photograph in front of the 150-meter-high monumental cross located at the top of the Risco de la Nava, omnipresent and intentionally visible from the outskirts of Madrid.

In May 2024, the Minister of Territorial Policy, Ángel Víctor Torres, was very forceful in his statement. an interview in The Country"We want them to leave. We're talking with them and with the church authorities. It has to be a secular center, one that serves to explain the war and what came after. They can't stay. They don't want to leave; there's some resistance, but there was also a push to exhume Franco's remains, and, in the end, justice." But in this tug-of-war with the Catholic Church, the government has had to give in. Finally, as it progresses, Eldiario.es And the Spanish Ministry of the Presidency has confirmed that the Benedictines will not be forced to leave Cuelgamuros. However, former prior Santiago Cantera Montenegro and two other religious will have to leave in the coming weeks, as the Spanish government has explicitly requested in meetings held with representatives of the Vatican.

Very little is known about them; there is not even a clear figure on how many imprisoned and free men worked at Cuelgamuros. But all that may change in the near future. An archaeological campaign of the Spanish National Research Council (Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas, CSIC), which will begin on April 27, wants to rescue from underground the daily life of the men, women and children who lived in the shadow of the Valley of the Fallen for almost 19 years.
