British actor and presenter Russell Brand steps out of a black Mercedes in front of the Southwark Crown Court in London. Brand faces seven charges related to sexual offenses, including three allegations of rape. Six women accuse him of acts that allegedly took place between 1999 and 2009. He maintains he is innocent. Barcelona will host a new edition of the Serielizados Fest from October 19th to 28th, the festival dedicated to series that combines premieres, screenings, meetings with creators, and professional activities. This year's programming connects Catalan fiction with productions from the rest of the country and international titles, in addition to recovering series that have marked the history of television. Among the program's highlights are the premiere of In vitro, the screening of Sicarios, the new production by Carles Porta, and the tribute to the thirty years of Nissaga de poder. The festival will also feature the presence of British screenwriter Steven Moffat (Sherlock and Doctor Who) and Israeli creator Hagai Levi (The affair and In treatment).

3Cat wants to expand its presence on YouTube with a strategy that seeks to adapt to new audiovisual consumption habits, reach audiences that go beyond traditional television, and strengthen the presence of Catalan in the digital environment. The project is structured around three axes: creating content designed specifically for the platform, promoting Catalan creators, and implementing a new offer of channels reorganized by themes. Today, at the Torre Glòries Auditorium, the roadmap was presented by Rosa Romà, president of the Catalan Broadcasting Corporation (CCMA), Cristina Villà, director of innovation, research, and digital strategy, Judith de Argila, director of digital audience development, and Vicky Cazalla, head of strategic media partnerships at YouTube.

Carolina Ferre (Cocentaina, 1974) has been a familiar face on television for more than thirty years. She began her career at the now-defunct Canal 9 and has worked for Telecinco, Antena 3, La Sexta, and À Punt, where until 2023 she presented the Valencian version ofCatch me if you can. She has also been a collaborator on various TV3 programs, which selected her as one of the contestants vips of the new edition of The crossing, which this week has landed on 3Cat.

After three editions with anonymous contestants, La travessa, the 3Cat adventure reality show, takes a turn in its format and incorporates famous participants. This fourth season, which will be available on the platform tomorrow, features eight pairs of well-known figures who must overcome different challenges in the Tramuntana mountain range, in Mallorca. Continuing at the helm of the program is Laura Escanes, who on this occasion had an additional challenge beyond presenting: some of the contestants, such as the singer Miki Núñez or the influencer Jessica Goicoechea, are her friends, a relationship that could not affect her impartiality. "At some point, it has been complicated. This season I was much more nervous than the previous ones because I felt more judged. Suddenly, there were people who knew me, even if it was just by sight, or people who have been working in television for many years and I felt that perhaps they would judge me more. But in the end, I am the presenter and they have to listen to me," Escanes explained today during the presentation of the season at the Maritime Museum of Barcelona.

Barcelona said goodbye this Sunday to the 2026 La Mercè Festival with the traditional Piromusical, which this year featured several novelties. On one hand, after years of having Avinguda Maria Cristina as the stage, this year the fireworks and music show was held for the first time from Nova Icària beach. On the other, another novelty was television-related: Dulceida, influencer and presenter of La gran cita, was in charge of hosting the broadcast on TV3.

Although it will not begin broadcasting until November 5th, the new free-to-air DTT channel already carries the stigma of being born as a communicative lever in favor of a PSOE in flagrant media and, above all, television minority. The company's CEO, José Miguel Contreras, has tried to shake off this notion by labeling it as "stupidity." He did so during an informative breakfast in which he outlined some of the issues that have accompanied the project since the Spanish government awarded them the television channel, ahead of the bid presented by Mediaset.

The Irish actress Jamie Lee O'Donnell, known for the series "Derry Girls and Leonard and Hungry Paul, was escorted by the police upon landing in Edinburgh on a flight from Barcelona, where she currently lives. According to Global Chronicle, this Sunday, during the Ryanair flight heading to the Scottish capital, O'Donnell allegedly had a confrontational attitude that led to an "incident" with the plane's crew.

Mari Pau Huguet (Estopanyà, 1963) is known for a professional life dedicated to Televisió de Catalunya. There she began her career and very likely it is also there where she will end it. But few know that she spent her entire childhood in the La Bordeta neighbourhood of Lleida. These were the sixties and seventies of the last century, when everything still happened in the street. “It was like living in a village, we didn't have a television and we spent the day playing outside the house,” recalls the journalist. These were times when she socialised with both boys and girls in all sorts of popular games, “like rope skipping, the handkerchief game and strong horse...”, she remembers.

It is fascinating how private television stations tried to disguise the scandal of the luxury penthouse that the Community of Madrid has bought to use as supposed temporary offices for President Ayuso. On Telecinco, in the magazine Vamos a ver, they made a convoluted plan with the intention of presenting it as an interesting investment. They sent a reporter to a flat for sale in the Chamberí neighborhood. They reported that it was the neighboring flat to the one in question, as if it were next door, and later we found out it was on another street. They assured that this flat was, if not exact, practically the same as the one the public entity had bought. They entered that flat with the real estate consultant who had it for sale and asked him to conduct the tour in front of the cameras. The man showed the living room, the kitchen, and the bedrooms, singing all its virtues. He spoke about the excellences of the neighborhood and the magnificent investment it represented. They also showed us the small terrace, boasting about views that were rather mediocre. That approach could easily confuse the audience, making them believe it was the Community of Madrid's flat and not a substitute to cover the issue on television. But when they asked about the price, it turned out to cost half of what they would have spent on the supposed temporary offices. It was worth three and a half million, not six. In the summer edition of Espejo público, at no time did they show images of the apartment or the building in the short time they dedicated to discussing that institutional purchase. Among the arguments of the panelists, the consideration that an apartment like that was an "element of representation" to justify the luxury was strongly emphasized.In Antena 3 Noticias, the always expressive Sandra Golpe didn't even want to take charge of that information. She gave way to a reporter to offer "other news", relegating it to a category of lesser importance. The presenter first reported that Begoña Gómez, Pedro Sánchez's wife, had recovered her passport and, immediately after, added a brief tail: And finally, after the controversy, the Community of Madrid has decided to put up for sale Ayuso's penthouse that she was going to use as an office while the works on the regional government headquarters lasted. It will be sold with four other properties. The money will be donated to those affected by the fires and to the reconstruction of the areas devastated by the fire”. Barely fifteen seconds of news that turned the six-million-euro bargain in Chamberí into an act of charity to help the victims of the fires. The scandal was closed in a few hours, without questioning the details hidden behind the suspicious purchase of a penthouse with two hundred meters of terrace. The level of inquiry and meticulousness applied to the PSOE cases contrasted with the superficial information about this case of Isabel Díaz Ayuso. But what attracted the most attention was the evident fear of the panelists to analyze the facts, with long preliminaries and many prior precautions before expressing their opinion. It seemed that they were more worried about keeping their seats as panelists than about common sense and the management of public money.

For weeks, Telecinco and Antena 3 have been showing contempt and prejudice against Zapatero's daughters that go beyond reasonable journalistic interest for their indictment. Both in morning and afternoon magazines and in the news, there is an obsession with showing photographs of them. The fact that they are two thirty-year-old women who do not conform to hegemonic canons, neither aesthetic nor stylistic, provokes a morbid fixation on their image. It is not new: when they were minors, they were already victims of cruel mockery.

The Supreme Court has today confirmed the ruling that forces Atresmedia to stop broadcasting El Rosco, the famous final test of the quiz show Pasapalabra. Justice considers that the test constitutes a work protected by intellectual property, the ownership of which corresponds to the Dutch company MC&F and not to ITV, the producer that licenses the broadcast rights of the quiz show. The court, furthermore, imposes compensation for moral damages of 50,000 euros to MC&F, considering that Atresmedia has infringed intellectual property rights.

Since Trump set out to dismantle the National Public Radio (NPR) and the Public Broadcasting Service (PBS), the country's public radio and television stations, a two-tiered response has emerged that is managing to keep the service afloat. On the one hand, federal judge Randolph Moss declared Donald Trump's executive order to cut federal funding to these state-level media, which have over a thousand associated radio and television networks operating at the local level, "unconstitutional" this April. However, the judge's ruling has not resulted in the return of the already cut funds, and this has already led to a hundred layoffs at PBS, representing 15% of the total, to which must be added approximately 500 more jobs lost at associated local radio or television stations.

3Cat celebrated Language Week to promote the use of Catalan, this year focusing mainly on new speakers. On television, this work of awareness and promotion of the language has been noticeable, for example, in the pieces from Telenotícies that delved into testimonies and circumstances related to the use and normalization of Catalan. The sports section has conducted interviews with relevant personalities who have learned Catalan as another tool to integrate into the dynamics of their respective clubs. Míchel at Girona, Diego Ocampo at Baxi Manresa, Moncho Fernández at Bàsquet Girona or Fermín López, Kika Nazareth and Ludovic Fàbregas at Barça. Some regular programs on the grid have tried to incorporate content related to the normalization of Catalan, and Català fàcil has premiered, a space with pedagogical intent for beginners. But it has remained a superficial program with more good intentions than television appeal.

La ruleta de la suerte is celebrating: twenty consecutive years being one of the most successful programs on state television. It can long be considered a symbol of morning television entertainment, while also being one of the longest-running programs on the current grid.

The musician and creator Albert Pla (Sabadell, 1966) is now the presenter of Sala 30, a new program on Canal 33 that brings together artists who have at some point been linked to MACBA. A new 3Cat format whose objective, among other things, is to celebrate the 30 years of the Catalan museum.

After many weeks of boiling the pot with his arrival at La Sexta, this Tuesday the program hosted by Marc Giró premieres on the second channel of Atresmedia. Following the path of the Late show that until a few months ago he did on La 1, Giró premieres Cara al show, a weekly interview program that will always include a "reivindicative" monologue, according to the network. The godparents of the first episode, which airs from 11:00 PM, will be Estopa, who have already appeared in the program's promotions recorded inside an elevator, one of the hallmarks of the now defunct public television program that is also used in Cara al show. The new space is produced in Catalonia, specifically from Terrassa.

Since she was 15 years old, Xantal Llavina (1975) has been clear that she wants to be a journalist, but with a family of entrepreneurs, she opted to graduate in journalism and business: "I'm a humanities person and accounting was a bit complicated for me. In fact, I begged the teacher to average my grades with the theoretical exams because I would never be an accountant, only a journalist. A year later, when I was already on television, I ran into the teacher and she told me that I was right, that I wanted to be a journalist," she explains. Restless and hardworking, Llavina has ended up building a career that goes far beyond journalism.

3Cat wants to take its programs to the streets and, for this reason, has organized a whole weekend experience where viewers can see some of the public television's leading figures up close. 3Cat en Viu – the name of this special weekend – will be held on May 30 and 31 at Plaça de l'Anella Olímpica and Palau Sant Jordi in Barcelona from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. As the public television details, more than 25 activities have been organized for all audiences and there will be five stages from which more than 20 live contents will be broadcast, many related to some of the house's most popular programs, such as Polònia or the APM?The youngest ones have also been taken into account, and among the attractions of this weekend will be all the characters from the Super3 universe. Free invitations for the two days of activities will be available from May 5.

The arrival of the last quarter of the season has led different channels to question their bets in order to round off their audiences. Two of the channels where more movements are observed are La Sexta and La1, both with a more openly progressive tendency. The signing of Marc Giró by the Atresmedia group –to present a late night show titled Cara al show– has caused a chain effect and there are already half a dozen professionals identified with progressive positions who will premiere a program in the coming weeks. These are some of the upcoming additions.
