The benefits of cycling are numerous, both in terms of sport and society. On the one hand, it is an accessible and healthy sport that contributes to improving the health and quality of life of the population and helps prevent cardiovascular disease. On the other hand, using a bicycle as a means of daily transport improves sustainable mobility and reduces the environmental impact of transportation. Furthermore, cycling is an excellent excuse for socializing, participating in, and riding with the many cycling clubs in the municipalities of Barcelona. Therefore, the Provincial Council's Cycling Promotion Plan aims to leave a sporting legacy in the province that will allow for the continued promotion of road cycling, both on open roads and on the municipal cycling circuits within the region.

The installation, which will also serve as a climate shelter, will generate 1 MW of energy—equivalent to the annual consumption of 300 families—for the city's water treatment facilities and for the community energy project that El Prat launched in 2022, of which Carol is a member. “It's not just about the financial savings; it's the pride of being part of this transition, of reducing emissions, of using clean energy generated right here in the municipality,” she adds. This isn't an isolated initiative: to promote the energy transition, the city council is installing photovoltaic panels on all municipal rooftops. It also has a network of shared electric vehicles to decarbonize transportation, explains Susanna Laredo, coordinator of Environmental Action, Energy, and Urban Services for the El Prat City Council.

This vocational nurse was born at the Maternity Home in 1947, grew up there, and then worked there until she retired. "My mother was a resignation and they adopted her, but at 16, during the Civil War, she had to return to the Maternity Home. She didn't have a very happy childhood, and returning to the Maternity Home was like a small miracle. She learned a lot there. She was a very well-educated woman," says Flórez. It was also at the Maternity Home in Barcelona that Fina's mother met her husband, who was her caretaker. "Marriage emasculated her; she could no longer work," adds Flórez.

The 2024 budget was €1,243.87 million and consists of several items, including transfers to local and private entities, which represent 42.23% of the total: €525.31 million. These resources include discretionary subsidies, which in 2024 amounted to €94.5 million, a figure that has multiplied fivefold compared to the previous year. ARA has analyzed the use of this money, which the provincial body allocates by hand, that is, based on political will: of the 61.8 million euros that go to local authorities, almost 40% (36.96%) is concentrated in just two regions, Alt Penedès and Anoia, according to data provided by the Provincial Council VII of the budget (capital transfers). Within these regions, the majority of the resources are received by the municipalities of the Junts party.

Seven months after ARA uncovered cases of sexual harassment and abuse of power by different teachers over the years, the Institut del Teatre has passed on the file opened against one of the thirteen staff that appeared before the prevention and investigation commission investigating the accusations. In May, this commission concluded that files would be opened on three teachers and one of them, Boris Dausà, would be reported to the Prosecutor's office due to evidence of sexual harassment. "Once the Diputació de Barcelona finished its investigation, and given that the indications of sexual harassment have been confirmed, we have informed the public prosecutor's office", the centre wrote in a statement.
