It crosses the Llémena Valley, a river basin dotted with small villages surrounded by nature, from Sant Gregori – west of Girona – to Les Planes d'Hostoles in La Garrotxa.

13,276 fines. This is the staggering number of fines issued between September and November by the four new fixed speed cameras installed in the center of Girona. This represents an average of 4,425 fines per month, almost 150 per day. The City Council installed the cameras last August at locations considered problematic, with a high concentration of accidents, near sensitive areas such as schools, where residents had complained about noise and speeding. The aim is to improve road safety, calm traffic, and reduce noise and air pollution, coinciding with the city's implementation of a new traffic management system. the new low-emission zoneHowever, although the signs are visible, many drivers still haven't gotten used to slowing down and have had to pay the price in the form of fines. Of the four speed cameras, two have a maximum speed limit of 30 km/h. These are the one on Pedret Street, near number 146, on the road that runs alongside the Ter River at the entrance to and exit from Girona. Pont Major neighborhoodThe first speed camera is located on Josep Tarradellas Avenue, opposite the Maristes school, a straight stretch where vehicles often only slowed down because of the traffic lights. The other two cameras, with a 40 km/h speed limit, are located on Río Güell Street, opposite the Bèlit sports field, in the Sant Narcís neighborhood, and at the intersection of Barcelona Street and Creu Street, two busy thoroughfares. In all cases, these are streets where, historically, vehicles traveled at 50 km/h—or even higher, illegally—but where, after the pandemic, traffic regulations were adapted to the new urban limits of 30 and 40 km/h. These speed limits are safer and less polluting, but many drivers did not respect them. That is why the City Council has decided to launch this enforcement campaign.

The first snowflakes began to fall on Sunday night in the western regions and on the Segarra plateau, but it was during the early hours of Monday morning that the snow spread and intensified, reaching Central Catalonia and accumulating in the areas where it snowed most heavily. The forecast indicates that this picture-postcard landscape will continue for the next few hours thanks to the low temperatures, which will keep the snow on the ground.

However, the parade itself won't begin until 6:00 PM, and will proceed along Plaça Ramon Berenguer IV; Rambla Ferran; Avinguda Francesc Macià, Avinguda Blondel, and Avinguda Madrid; Plaça Espanya; and again Avinguda Blondel, until reaching the Paeria building around 8:00 PM.

For weeks now, we've been bombarded, day in and day out, with advertisements for The news you don't want to hear From the Catalan Traffic Service, family members of real victims and officers of the Mossos d'Esquadra (Catalan police) recount the tragic moment when someone is informed that a loved one has died in an accident. There are several similar stories, narrating the events from the moment the doorbell rings to the shock of learning the tragedy. Recently, another video was added in which a mother says goodbye to her daughter, asking if she'll be waiting for her for lunch. Foreshadowing what will happen, instead of giving a predictable answer, her absence is revealed: "No, Mom. I'm sorry. On my way to work, I'm going to overtake someone, and a car won't see me. I'll die on the way to the hospital." Then we hear the sound of the vehicles colliding and see the mother's devastated face.

According to the 24th iRAP study, covering the three-year period 2022-2024, the T-314, which connects Cambrils and Reus, has become the road with the highest accident rate in the Catalan road network. It is a straight, two-lane road that is less than 10 kilometers long. La Rabassada has moved into second place. The director of the Catalan Traffic Service, Ramon Lamiel, explained that there have been two fatalities and one serious injury on the T-314—a young person who is brain dead—events that "have caused the numbers to skyrocket."

Under the slogan "To avoid accidents, anticipate," the Catalan government is launching a new campaign to reduce accidents involving motorcyclists. The initiative aims to raise awareness among motorcyclists and drivers about the importance of protection, prevention, and caution—three key elements for improving road safety. In Catalonia, one in three traffic fatalities is a motorcyclist. The campaign uses fictionalized stories to foreshadow the real-life consequences of common driving imprudence. It focuses on the risky behaviors of motorcyclists, "one of the most vulnerable groups on our roads," according to the Minister of the Interior and Public Safety, Núria Parlon. At the same time, it promotes awareness among all other drivers. The goal is "to reduce accidents and reinforce safe and respectful driving," Parlon emphasizes.

While the roads coming from the Pyrenees saw the worst traffic jams at midday and in the afternoon on the last day of the Immaculate Conception long weekend, with queues on the C-16—which connects to the Pyrenees via the Cadí Tunnel—, the C-14 near Organyà (Alt Urgell), and on the Al-N (Ripollès), the queues shifted, as usual, to the AP-7 at night. On this motorway, which typically experiences heavy traffic on holidays and weekends, queues of at least 9 kilometers were reported northbound towards Barcelona, between Granada del Penedès and Olèrdola, and intermittent traffic jams were also reported between Sant Celoni and La Roca del Vallès, also heading towards the Catalan capital. And in the Penedès region, two accidents complicated not only traffic on the highway but also the opening of the additional lane. A collision between a car and a van caused an oil spill, forcing its closure. There were also 14 kilometers of congestion on the N-260 between Ribes de Freser and Ripoll, and 11 kilometers on the C-14 between Ponts and Oliola. Later that night, an accident between Bruc (Anoia) and Collbató (Baix Llobregat) forced the closure of this highway southbound, towards Barcelona. Although detours were in place, there were at least 8 kilometers of traffic jams. According to Trànsit estimates, approximately 460,000 vehicles left Barcelona and its metropolitan area for the long weekend, and 250,000 of them are expected to return today between midnight and 12:00.

The weekend was already particularly difficult, with a tanker truck overturning and causing road closures near Baix Ebre. This Tuesday, the epicenter was also in the same southern region, and it was again a truck that, for reasons under investigation, crossed the median of the motorway, colliding head-on with another heavy vehicle traveling in the opposite direction and also affecting a third truck that tried to avoid them. The driver of the first truck died in the accident. The accident caused closures in both directions that lasted for hours, with traffic jams exceeding ten kilometers. Around midday, one lane in each direction was reopened, improving traffic flow.

It was two Mossos d'Esquadra officers, accompanied by three other people. She was surprised, but she hadn't imagined the worst. For example, the deer symbol representing "wild animals" will be replaced by a wild boar. This is bad news. It means their presence will continue. They'll also replace the symbol for a train engine with a chimney, which indicates a nearby level crossing or track (I just took my theory test and I can't remember), with a more modern train without a smoke vent. They'll also replace the symbol for "schoolchildren nearby," which is a boy running while holding the hand of a smaller girl.
