There are times when life accelerates and goes crazy. This happened last year to Abou Sangaré, a Guinean migrant who arrived in France at the age of 16 after crossing Mali, Algeria, Libya, the Mediterranean, and Italy. Based in Amiens, in northern France, Sangaré was chosen to play an undocumented migrant, like himself, in the film. The story of Souleymane, which premiered at Cannes in May 2024, where his performance was awarded Best in the Un Certain Regard section. He still had no roles, but he was hailed like a star. "Canes was a very stressful experience for me," the actor explains via video call. "Presenting the film in front of 900 people isn't something I usually do, and I got very nervous. And when everyone started applauding afterwards, it was like landing in another world."

The first formal strike in the home delivery sector has managed to get noticed. About 150 Glovo supermarket workers have concentrated this Friday morning at the headquarters of the company and have repeated the action early in the afternoon in the centre of Barcelona to demand their direct hiring and certain improvements in their working conditions. This is the result of the first of nine strike days that will be distributed between this and the next two weekends. The first mobilisation has had a 100% of follow-up, according to CCOO union, and has paralysed the activity in the supermarkets that the company has in Barcelona.

The three consecutive days of mobilizations by Glovo delivery riders have borne fruit: according to Unioin CCOO, the home delivery platform has informed its riders that it will make changes to the application after the protests. It has not advanced more details, saying only that they will be made public on Friday. Meanwhile, according to the union, dissatisfied workers have organised to boycott the system they complain about, and do not rule out an indefinite strike if they do not agree with the changes presented by the company.

"He said to me «You're very pretty, give me your phone number, please ». I replied «What's wrong with you? What's your problem? I'm a worker..». He gave me a bad mark and said I didn't deliver the package." This is the situation that a delivery woman encountered after delivering an order while working for a digital platform. On Thursday, CCOO union in Catalonia has presented a study that collects the experiences of 18 riders and warns of less obvious risks suffered by this group, such as traffic accidents and cases of sexual harassment.

The last meeting before the final proposal to regulate the work of delivery riders has ended without a formal agreement, but with the approval of all parties involved to turn them into salaried employees. "There is enough consensus to acknowledge the fact that they are employees," say sources from the Ministry of Labour. "The novelty is that the business organisations are agreeing to the fact that they are employees", the unions agree. This would seem to indicate that delivery riders will become salaried workers by law.
