Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán has intensified his war on the LGBTI community. This week, Hungary amended its constitution to restrict the rights of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and intersex people. The controversial constitutional amendment, championed by Orbán and widely approved by Parliament (140 out of 199 votes in favor), recognizes only two genders: male and female. Furthermore, Hungary has also reinforced its ban on Gay Pride marches by putting "the protection of children" before fundamental rights such as freedom of assembly and freedom of expression.

Violent attacks against the LGTBI collective increased by 50% in Catalonia last year. The Observatory against Homophobia (OCH) counted, in total, 284 incidents between January 1 and December 31, 2021 in Catalonia. Of these, a third ended in a complaint. Aggressions of any kind against LGTBI people can be reported through a few channels. One of them is through the Observatory Against Homophobia (OCL_H), an entity increasingly concerned about a scourge that far from being eradicated, continues to grow. In 2019 the Observatory recorded 160 incidences, in 2020 there were already 189, 18% more, according to the report State of LGTBI-phobia in Catalonia 2020 presented on Monday at the College of Journalists. The event was attended, among others, by representatives of the Generalitat de Catalunya, the Barcelona City Council and the Síndic de Greuges. Since January 1st, 2021, 90 have been registered.
