The public ministry argues that Hasél has been convicted "for multiple criminal acts" and stresses that in some cases, "such as the crime of glorification of terrorism, there is recidivism". To justify its position - which is mandatory, but not binding, although in general it marks the decision that the council of ministers usually takes when it grants the measure of grace - the Prosecutor's Office also relies on a report of conduct of the Ponent prison, where Hasél is imprisoned. The text explains that since the rapper entered prison no disciplinary proceedings have been opened against him, and "has always shown a correct attitude and adaptation to the rules". Given his good behaviour, the penitentiary proposed him to start an individual treatment program (PIT), but Hasél opposed it, which the prosecution also used to argue against the pardon.

This is the thesis that Irídia had defended, but until now the official version had been limited to saying that the cause was being investigated. Catalan Minister for Home Affairs Miquel Sàmper has explained this Monday that the report is "practically closed" with the medical report pending. According to the police report, when the girl was hit in the eye, "projectiles were being fired" by the Catalan police, known as the Mossos d'Esquadra. In an interview on Radio 4 and La 2, Sàmper has advanced that if the thesis of the foam bullet is confirmed, the protocol of the Generalitat will be activated to compensate the girl.

But seeds of higher levels of aggressiveness were already visible. Ten days earlier an incendiary device had been thrown at the Matadepera local police headquarters and the Vic train station was seriously vandalised. And still on October 31st a demonstration in Barcelona against the anti-covid restrictions - linked by the Mossos to extreme right-wing groups - ended with 14 people arrested, 23 policemen injured and several lootings.

The documentary directed by Luis López Carrasco shows a blind spot in the modern history of Spain, an episode erased from the most recent historical memory. In the year 1992 -while in the State everything was revolving around the Olympic Games in Barcelona and the Expo in Seville-, the industrial reconversion -a requirement to be part of the European Union- closed factories one after the other, and in Cartagena the riots for the closure of the public company of naval constructions Bazán ended with the Murcian Parliament in flames due to the throwing of Molotov cocktails. It is worth seeing El año del descubrimiento to think about current issues now that unrest is often on the streets of Barcelona, Vilanova i la Geltrú and Vic, but also in the streets of Linares and Jaén.

The resumption of the mobilizations against the imprisonment of the rapper Pablo Hasél -there have already been twelve days of protest- has also made the riots return to the streets of Barcelona. The demonstration called in the Plaça Universitat in Barcelona under the slogan Sense futur no tenim res a perdre ("Without future we have nothing to lose") has been the most crowded so far, with about 4.4,000 people according to the City Police (Guardia Urbana), in a call that added several demands: freedom of expression -and freedom for the rapper Pablo Hasél-, the right to housing, the halting of evictions, the regulation of rents, the amnesty of political prisoners and the repeal of the labor reform and the so-called gag law. A welter of different slogans because there were also different entities that supported the demonstration. One of them is the almost century-old shop Vall, which sells bags, suitcases, and accessories. It was founded in 1923 by Esther Vall's great-grandparents, in premises at number 165, which started out as a basket and furniture shop. Over the years, the business has evolved towards accessories and they have opened a shop in Escorial street and, just two months ago, another one at number 108, on the corner with Ros de Olano. Esther, along with her sister, are the fourth generation of the family that runs this business in the heart of Gràcia. They have been "desperate" for a week: "The first day of the riots they painted the shop with acid and on Saturday they broke our windows. In short: everything is terrible", she explains to the ARA. Although the big headlines of the riots have been taken by the stores of the looted multinationals, Esther's case gives voice to small businesses that have also been affected by the riots of these days against the imprisonment of the rapper Pablo Hasél.

These are the words of Pere Ferrer, general director of the Catalan police - known as the Mossos d'Esquadra - on the police operation that on Saturday, the fifth night of riots in the protests over Pablo Hasél, ended up kettling a group of demonstrators in Carrer Gran de Gràcia in Barcelona, an action that has already generated criticism from Irídia, an organisation which defends of human rights. Ferrer said that they are now analysing the operation, which "left room for improvement", but has claimed that the protesters had "a way out at all times", although the images show simultaneous charges from one end and the other of the demonstration and protestors not knowing where to flee.

Still hungover from the destruction on Passeig de Gràcia, the protestors marched quite calmly through the stretch from Sants to the centre, although once again police charged and protestors threw objects. Yesterday at least 8 arrests were made.
