Shortly after the announcement of the election call, the PP's social media accounts circulated a video showing Minister Óscar Puente writhing in pain after breaking his leg. And the New Generations, one showing immigrants in Ceuta with the slogan: "Either them or us." These were two samples of where the party aspiring to govern Spain intends to take the campaign. Also on the same day, Isabel Díaz Ayuso and Vox asked their voters not to even think about voting by mail, thus sowing doubt about whether the current government is preparing a rigging. This is a scarecrow that the right has been waving for some time, with the idea of portraying Pedro Sánchez as an aspiring dictator.

It didn't even take an hour for Isabel Díaz Ayuso to generate the first controversy of the electoral pre-campaign. Before Alberto Núñez Feijóo could comment on Pedro Sánchez's decision to call early elections, the Madrid president had already set the agenda by stoking the ghost of electoral fraud. "I ask that no one think of voting by mail," she insisted early Monday at an informative breakfast. Since then, this warning, launched without any proof of the supposed risk of rigging, has become one of the most commented-on topics, and has caused the PP to get tangled up trying to balance things. The leader of the Popular Party, in fact, avoided speaking publicly on the issue for two days until this Wednesday, when he joined Ayuso and her thesis.

The postal vote has achieved in these elections record participation figures and has increased by 350% largely due to the pandemic. The vast majority of voters who requested it have been able to vote by mail. This is not the case, however, of Sílvia Barceló, a Barcelona resident who was not allowed to do so this Sunday. Barceló requested the vote by mail last February 2nd but the documentation never arrived to its destination. "I didn't receive any notification or anything", she explains in conversation with ARA.

A total of 270,392 people have requested the postal vote for 14-F. It is a "record" figure throughout the State, according to a statement from Correos, and that triples the requests admitted to the Catalan elections of 2017. Of all the requests submitted, 188,566 have been made in person and 81,826 telematically, through the Correos website and with the electronic signature. To all the admitted requests it is still necessary to add those that have been received until this Friday at noon, which was the last day applications could be made.

Under normal conditions, Neus would have simply given her the ballot paper and Carme, once she had chosen the party, would have taken it to the post office. But the pandemic, which is a specialist in creating unprecedented situations, allows for the first time the vote to be casted infront of the post office worker.
