Out-of-place heat for the dates, and today the first 30 ºC of this year have been finally reached and exceeded in our area, specifically in the Ponent and Ebro regions. Notably, 31.9 ºC were recorded at the Riba-roja reservoir and 31.1 in Vinebre (Ribera d’Ebre), 30.7 in Aldover (Baix Ebre), 30.6 in Seròs (Segrià), 30.1 in Benissanet (Ribera d’Ebre), and 30 in Torroja del Priorat. This figure has been reached almost a month earlier this year than last year, when the first 30 ºC arrived on May 3rd. According to Meteocat, if we establish a ranking of the day when the first 30 ºC maximum was reached in Catalonia over the last twenty years, based on the data from the organization's stations, this Thursday, April 9th, would be in fifth position. As explained in a statement by Aleix Serra Uró, head of Meteocat's data quality control team, "we are facing an unusual but not exceptional situation."

Soon it will be May and, as every year, one of the most important sporting events in Barcelona is coming up: the El Corte Inglés Race. The 46th edition will be run on May 10th. This event, which has free registration, is recognized for supporting various Catalan solidarity organizations; this year, the linked entity will be the Cruyff Foundation. The circuit starts on Avinguda Diagonal (9 am) and finishes at Plaça Catalunya. The race runs along a 10-kilometer urban circuit that has been approved by the Catalan Athletics Federation, crossing important points of the city such as Passeig de Gràcia, Carrer Aragó, and Gran Via de les Corts Catalanes.

Junts per Barcelona gave the go-ahead this Thursday for a long electoral pre-campaign. With thirteen months still to go until the 2027 municipal elections, the party has launched a campaign against the mayor of the Catalan capital, Jaume Collboni, accusing him of "turning his back on the city". "He neither looks, nor listens, nor responds," denounced the leader of the juntaires in the City Council, Jordi Martí, at a press conference, where he presented the posters made with artificial intelligence that the group will distribute around the city, and in which Collboni appears covering his mouth, eyes, and ears.

Not even five minutes had passed since the start of the event of the Mayor of Barcelona, Jaume Collboni, at Foment del Treball, when it became evident that one of the issues the business community wanted to address was the regulation of the housing market. The president of the employers' association, Josep Sánchez Llibre, took advantage of the welcome to the mayor to reproach him for the non-modification of the 30% protected housing reserve. The absolute calm of the Easter holidays has continued this Tuesday, with general sunshine and a warm midday atmosphere that has left highs of up to 27 ºC in Ponent. Temperatures that are high for the season, which are still expected to peak in the coming days, when the first 30 ºC of the year could be reached inland. Values clearly above the usual for this time of year and more typical of late spring or early summer. All of this is the result of a low-pressure system located between the southwestern Iberian Peninsula and the Canary Islands, which, with its counterclockwise rotation, will drive warm winds from North Africa towards home, as well as an incursion of Saharan dust in suspension.

If there is no unexpected plot twist, the Barcelona City Council plenary will be transformed in the 2027 elections. And not only because of the redefinition of majorities that elections always entail, but because this time everything indicates that the plenary council of the Catalan capital will gain two councilors. In this way, Barcelonans will go from electing 43 representatives instead of 41. The reason? That since 2024 the city has consolidated its population above the barrier of 1.7 million.

The anticyclone keeps Atlantic fronts away and its warm ridge causes the thermometer to rise sharply during the day. An anticyclonic ridge embraces us and is causing the weather to remain fully spring-like in our territory. On one hand, we have a high-pressure center over the Bay of Biscay and another over the western Mediterranean. All of this causes the wind to be null or very weak and, furthermore, allows the atmosphere to warm up, especially at midday. Therefore, the last stretch of Easter will continue to be stable and with clear skies. Only some change is expected at the end of next week, with the proximity of a front that could bring showers and a slightly cooler atmosphere.

The Azores High will continue to guarantee good weather in our area during this Easter week, with sunshine and mild temperatures that will usher us fully into spring, after a few days of strong winds and snow in the Pyrenees. With this weather, you can fully enjoy the snowfall that has occurred in the Pyrenees, where in some cases there is more than 2 or 2.5 meters of snow, a thickness significantly higher than usual at the beginning of April. Mid next week, however, new changes could arrive with more atmospheric instability.

After more than a week with a strong north wind corridor affecting our home, the weather situation will clearly improve just as the most important holidays of Easter begin. The mistral and tramontana still left gusts of more than 100 km/h this Thursday in the north of the country, with a hurricane-force gust of 190 km/h recorded in Portbou (Alt Empordà). This Good Friday the wind will continue to blow at the extremes, but it will clearly decrease and will no longer be news. A wind that will finally calm down completely over the weekend. The Azores anticyclone will finally embrace us and absolute calm and radiant sun will prevail everywhere, with no more squalls or precipitation. Temperatures will clearly rise, with increasingly warm midday. All this after the past few days have once again exceeded 100 km/h in the peaks of the Pyrenees and in Empordà, while the last general snowfall in the Pyrenees has left more than half a meter of new snow at the high altitudes of Alt Pirineu and the north face. Freshly fallen snow that will allow for maximum enjoyment of skiing these days.

Not even a year after ERC elected Creu Camacho as president of the Barcelona federation, the party will once again fight for the throne on April 17 and after an internal rebellion that was seen as a new challenge to Oriol Junqueras's leadership. If last April the officialist list headed by Eva Baró faced off against the list of the critics, led by Creu Camacho; this time the factions are the same, but with changed leadership. Rosa Suriñach, a councilwoman in Barcelona City Council, will be the face of the critics, while the officialists will have Ricard Farin, president of the ERC branch in Horta-Guinardó, as their visible representative. Three and a half years and many setbacks later, the Government, local councils, and residents gave a new boost this Wednesday to the commitment to transform the Besòs and stop it from being Barcelona's "backyard." In a meeting driven by the Besòs Consortium, all parties have laid the groundwork for a new document with 28 actions —some specific and others generic— to be carried out in the coming years, including two that will modify the current plan for the Tres Xemeneies in Sant Adrià in one of its most significant chapters: housing.

The weather has remained unsettled in recent hours in various regions. Snowfall has been widespread in the Pyrenees, mainly above 1,200 or 1,400 m, especially on the north face, but it has also affected the south face. Strong northerly winds are still present at the extremes, but they will clearly decrease from Friday onwards. Looking ahead to the important days of Holy Week, sun and calm will prevail in all regions, with increasingly warm midday temperatures.

We often discover the garlic soup. The north component wind gives no respite and we have already strung together eight consecutive days of intense gusts, concentrated mainly at the ends of the country. In the last few hours, the 100 km/h mark has again been exceeded, highlighting on Tuesday the 151 km/h in Portbou and 130 km/h at the Darnius-Boadella reservoir (Alt Empordà), 133 km/h at Tosa d’Alp (altitude 2,478 m, Cerdanya), 125 km/h at Boí (altitude 2,537 m, Alta Ribagorça), 115 km/h at Port del Comte (altitude 2,288 m, Solsonès), 102 km/h at Santuari de Queralt (Berguedà) and 101 km/h at Mas de Barberans (Montsià). All this has once again caused incidents in these areas, especially on the Costa Brava.
