https://en.ara.cat/lifestyle/the-most-ambitious-080-moves-to-port-vell_130_5705954.html

The new edition of 080 Barcelona Fashion starts this Tuesday full of novelties: the first and most evident is the change of location, since after years at the modernist complex of Sant Pau, the Catalan catwalk moves to Port Vell, specifically to the Trencaones promenade, where an ephemeral structure of more than 50 meters long will be installed to host the different proposals of the participating designers. The change of location had been considered for some time by the organization because Sant Pau had become too small for a catwalk that has been growing in recent years. The entry of the Barcelona City Council into the organization of the event – another novelty – which materializes with a contribution of 500,000 euros, has been decisive in choosing the new location, by the sea, which, as Moisès Rodríguez, director of the Consortium of Commerce, Crafts and Fashion, explains, makes Barcelona "the only catwalk that is by the sea". For Rodríguez, this new location also carries a message linked to the city's past, since "the sea is fundamental to the history of the Industrial Revolution in Catalonia and the development of the textile industry". "The port was a strategic place for the transport of cotton and this past connects us with the present of industry and fashion," he highlights. With the contribution of the City Council, and the support of the Diputació de Barcelona, which this edition has joined the project to boost the fashion sector, the total budget of 080 Barcelona Fashion is 2.8 million euros.

It might seem insignificant, but it's not. "If you're a young person about to decide on a university degree, it's very likely that if you're a guy, social media will show you degrees in engineering and computer science, and if you're a girl, degrees in education, nursing, and caregiving," says Liliana Arroyo Moliner, PhD in sociology and director of the Chair for Socially Responsible Digital Innovation. Milagros Sainz, a researcher and professor at the Open University of Catalonia (UOC), explains that the popular Google Maps app "uses a man's pace to calculate walking distances, which often makes women or people with mobility issues take longer." There's also discrimination when looking for work, in healthcare, and with the algorithms used by banks to decide whether or not to grant a loan, because the mathematical models of these algorithms are applied in very different fields, and many decisions are made taking them into account.

It is a literary phenomenon in Japan and is part of what are known as healing booksOr, healing fiction books, which come mainly from Asian authors and present plots with very common problems and conflicts that are always resolved in the end. They are comforting, unhurried stories with endearing characters. In this case... best-seller In Syou Ishida's work, the solution to the problems presented in the various stories—whether work stress, family conflicts, or personal matters—is cats, but this could be extended to any pet, whose presence has a positive and healing emotional impact on all the characters in the book. According to the review made by New York Journal of Books, It's an "absolutely charming celebration of the healing power of pets." But is that really the case? Do animals have the healing power the book describes? We interviewed psychologists and veterinarians to find out if you can really "prescribe" a cat to cure some of the ills of modern society.

These are dates filled with parties, celebrations, and rituals that are repeated year after year, shared with family and friends. What we eat, with whom, how, and where we eat it is all part of the ritual. And so are the small details: the sprig of mistletoe that's said to bring good luck, decorating the Christmas tree, bringing out Grandma's china that we only use for these holidays, eating grapes to ring in the New Year, the same menu that's been on the menu for decades... all these small gestures carry a strong symbolic weight of community among those who participate. But is this accumulation of rituals in so few days a positive thing, or do we end up overwhelmed by so much excess?

Rodríguez, despite being young (he is 38 years old), displays a passion and knowledge of this world that doesn't seem typical of his generation, but he assures that interest in bells is not a matter of older people. "At the bell-ringing school, we were a very diverse group, people from all over the country, of different ages, but we had in common our passion and desire to learn," he explains. All the knowledge he has acquired throughout the bell-ringing course is now being applied to his town, La Garriga, where he has cleaned and revitalized the bell tower and enjoys popular support.

Longàs has just published the book The colors of autumn (Cosetania), which proposes 30 routes through Catalonia to enjoy this season with the family. The book suggests excursions throughout the territory, capturing the country's panoramic diversity. While there are some very popular routes, there are also many that readers are sure to discover, as they cover lesser-known areas and offer an opportunity to discover new places.

After years in this emblematic space, the organizers consider it "to be too small," as they explained a few months ago, and are currently working to secure a new location for the spring edition. Sources from the organization confirm that the space has already been decided, but cannot be announced because the agreement has not yet been formalized. "The Sant Pau Art Nouveau Site is a wonderful space, but with this edition we mark a turning point in our relationship. We are working with a new space, trying to align all the stars and ensure the public enjoys a space that we believe will be a hit and that will speak volumes about Catalan fashion," said the Crafts and Fashion (CCAM), which reports to the Department of Business and Employment.

He captured this in his work. From Otio, a philosophical treatise in which he argues that moments dedicated to leisure and contemplative life are the most valuable moments of our lives. A declaration of intent that placed free time on the same level of importance as time dedicated to work. Almost 2,000 years later, Seneca's reflections remain valid and should resonate with us more often, notes Marcel Cano, professor of philosophy at the University of Barcelona (UB), who recalls the Roman philosopher's words as "necessary" in a time of constant acceleration in our society. "Even leisure time has accelerated and has been invaded by the idea that it is necessary to fill all our time with activities," he warns. "Capitalism is not an economic system, it's a way of life, and it has convinced us that when we are doing nothing, not producing, we are wasting time," he points out. "Nowadays, work is the central part of human life, but this has also transferred to leisure time, to the point that our free time must be filled with activities, because otherwise, we experience it as a failure."

This issue frequently returns to public debate, where the question arises as to whether two people at different stages of their lives and with very different personal backgrounds can have a functional relationship. And in the case of minors, like the Barça player, it raises even more questions. In this regard, Spanish law is clear and sets the age of sexual consent at 16. Even if people younger than that age agree to have sex with an adult, this consent has no legal validity. And not only are sexual relations legislated in this regard, but other types of actions with clear sexual content are also included, such as conversations, recording images, or videos.
