Therefore, it was the hottest September day recorded in Catalonia, with historic values for these dates in 77 of the 128 XEMA stations with more than 20 years of data.

The temperature climbed sharply again, with new records, this Thursday. At the Fabra observatory, it reached 33.1 °C, half a degree less than Wednesday, when 33.6 °C was recorded. Yesterday's value is the second highest since 1914 in a September in the city of Barcelona. In Ponent and the interior of the Ebro, they brushed against 40 °C (39 °C in Vinebre, one of the highest since 2022). If we take the set of Meteocat's automatic stations, 27 out of 128 broke the record for a month of September in 20 years of data, especially those located in Empordà, the Pyrenees, and Ponent.

The temperature rose clearly yesterday Wednesday, when it exceeded 35 °C in many inland points and new heat records were registered in a month of September, as in the case of the Fabra Observatory, where the 33.6 °C measured is the highest value since 1914. All of this is the prelude to an exceptional heatwave that will cause the temperature to be well above the climatic average, with forecasts of registering new temperature records in the coming days.

The Atlantic disturbance located off the coasts of Portugal and Galicia will send a front that will generate unstable weather in our territory this Monday. While the first part of the morning has been stable, from midday the panorama has changed radically and storms have gained ground, affecting a large part of the west and north half by mid-afternoon. Showers of moderate to strong intensity are expected and the possibility of hail or hailstorms in many places, especially in the northern half and the northwest quadrant (you will find a provisional summary of the storms at the end of this article).

Saturday morning thunderstorms discharged strongly offshore and those that hit land left intense downpours. In Baix Penedès, it discharged with great intensity and the showers were torrential. The stuffiness will make it impossible to rest on the coast, with torrid nights. In Ponent or Ebre, thermometers could reach or exceed 42°C maximum in the middle of the week.
