Breaking into the industry is one of the biggest challenges for film or audiovisual communication students from various training centers and universities in the country. Opportunities are not many, and you need to be prepared to seize them on the fly. This summer, however, 38 students have experienced what it means to debut with a professional project by shooting Episodic, a new anthology series powered by the Barcelona City Council and Betevé, the municipal public television, and produced by Serielizados. The young people have participated in all phases of the creative process, from script development, direction, production, cinematography, music, art, or editing, among other technical and creative departments.

For some time now, footballers have stopped being simply athletes to become style icons, very often through association with renowned fashion brands. But finding the perfect styling is not an easy task, and it's most common for celebrities, when dressing, to receive advice from expert professionals who know much more about fashion than they do. Lamine Yamal, Barça's great star and one of the standout footballers of the 2026 World Cup, has also decided to rely on someone external to choose the pieces for his wardrobe. The chosen one to advise him is a person almost as well-known as he is, Pilar Vila, Rosalía's sister.

How is a newspaper made? What does the person behind the byline we read every day look like? These questions, and many others, were answered at the ARA's Summer Party, which took place this Wednesday and included original speed dating sessions between subscribers and journalists from the company. It was the first time this activity had been held and, on both sides, the same nerves were detected as those that surface in a romantic date, although in this case the participants were not risking as much as supposed sentimental happiness.

In the midst of a heatwave, Andreu Buenafuente and Eva Ugarte, dressed for autumn, focus on filming one of the last scenes of El otro mundo, the sequel to El otro lado, the series by Berto Romero that mixes mystery, paranormal phenomena, and humor. The filming takes place in a large house in the Sant Gervasi neighborhood of Barcelona, and inside it is much hotter than outside, where there is still a slight breeze. Between takes, a makeup artist touches up Buenafuente while another person tries to cool him down minimally with a small hand fan. "Filming a series set in autumn in July during a heatwave is a stroke of genius, it's an added challenge that we didn't want to overlook. Really, you could raise chickens in there," says Romero, between laughs, once the scene is finished. The comedian, besides being the protagonist of the fiction, also acts as director, a task he shares with Alberto del Toro.

For a couple of years now, TV3 has found the key to surviving summers: British series. When the holidays arrive and Com si fos ahir says goodbye until the new term – this year the final episode will be broadcast this Monday in prime time – the public television's schedule is filled with English fictions. They are not strictly new, as most of them premiered years ago in their country of origin, but they usually yield good audience results, as demonstrated at the time by Dr. Martin or The Durrells. This summer TV3 is repeating the strategy with the following series:

The beginning of Tip toe, the HBO Max miniseries premiering this Thursday, is the kind of opening that sends a chill down your spine. The camera transports us to a residential neighborhood in Manchester, with its characteristic, identical brick houses. At the entrance of one of these houses, we see a woman screaming. She says something like, "He's a monster." Directly in front of her is a man, whom we understand to be her husband, with an unperturbed expression. Then, the camera moves and a woman appears on the ground, we don't know if alive or dead. There's still a final blow: the camera pans up and we see a man hanging from a street lamp. Then, the series flashes back ten days to explain how this hellish situation came to be.

The experience of some artists and the repertoires performed have made the difference in the sixteenth edition of the Cruïlla festival. The nostalgia card has won because Suede, Pixies, The Black Crowes and David Byrne have offered good concerts, some even extraordinary, and because the public has responded positively to the proposal. In total, Cruïlla 2026 has gathered 73,000 attendees, 9,000 fewer than last year, when a record of 82,000 was reached. But the decline is not explained by the, let's say, nostalgic days of Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, but because Wednesday, the day intended for the younger audience, has been less successful: Halsey, the headliner for Wednesday, only attracted 9,000 people, half of the 18,000 that Gracie Abrams had in 2025.

Barcelona's major festivals are children of the nineties of the 20th century. So is Cruïlla, even though its first edition took place in the 21st century. Its director, Jordi Herreruela, lived the most impetuous period of his youth precisely in that era. Therefore, it is not surprising that Cruïlla's programming reserves space for the music of those years, as is the case with Primavera Sound and Sónar. Every generation has the right to build its own nostalgia, but in Barcelona's macro-festivals, the memory of the nineties seems to carry more weight than others. The programming for Cruïlla's second day, with Suede, Pixies, and Garbage on the main stages of the Parc del Fòrum, can be interpreted as a tribute to the generation that has already passed fifty.

The 78th edition of the Emmy Awards, presented by the United States Television Academy, has released its nominations today, and the medical drama The pitt(HBO Max) has once again proven to be the darling of the academics. The series starring Noah Wyle will fight to retain its title of best drama, an award it won last year. Furthermore, a good portion of the cast is nominated in the acting categories. The drama will compete, among others, against Pluribus (AppleTV), which debuts at the awards with its first season. Vince Gilligan's series is not the only notable newcomer to these Emmys: another AppleTV production, La maldición de Widow's Bay, one of the season's word-of-mouth phenomena, has managed to sneak into the comedy categories.

A few weeks ago, the filming of Life Barcelona, a series that, as its uninspired title suggests, is set in the Catalan capital. It is a production from the Netherlands that follows Julia (Holly Mae Brood), a Dutch designer who is sent to Barcelona by her mother to secretly weaken a rival agency. Once in Barcelona, the girl will fall head over heels for the city's charms and will also experience various love stories. The news of the filming has outraged some Barcelonians, who see the series as another vehicle for gentrification and mass tourism, and a boycott movement has begun on social media. One of the residents who has reacted with astonishment to the announcement is Tommy Blanco, who has launched an Instagram account –@lavidabarcelona– that calls for mobilization to stop a production that they consider contributes to "selling the city".

Few people set trends in Hollywood as much as Zendaya, who always makes daring and personal stylistic choices. The actress has once again proven she is unbeatable on the red carpet by appearing at the premiere of The Odyssey in a dress that left no one indifferent. In the film, she plays the goddess Athena, and Zendaya has decided to dress in keeping with her role: she chose a sculptural design from the firm Schiaparelli that surprises with a white breastplate-like upper body that accentuates her breasts and ribs. For decades we have seen women's breasts in series and movies alike. Almost every time there was a sex scene, it was the female performer who had to go all out and show her body. A good example of this trend is Game of Thrones, often accused of extreme sexualization of both the main protagonists and the supporting actresses, and even extras. In recent times the trend has reversed and we can say that we have entered the era of naked male torsos. Many of the recent great series hits do not need many excuses to show their protagonists shirtless and with well-defined pecs.

It is one of the weddings of the year and some have even called it "the royal wedding of America". Singer Taylor Swift and American football player Travis Kelce are getting married this weekend at Madison Square Garden in New York and the ceremony has already altered life in the city center: the streets adjacent to the venue are closed and will remain so all weekend. On Thursday, the couple organized a pre-wedding dinner which was already attended by a small group of 100 guests. The big party, however, will take place this Friday, with the city in the midst of a heatwave. An event that will have a thousand guests, including celebrities such as Bradley Cooper and his partner, Gigi Hadid, Anya Taylor-Joy, Jack Antonoff (Swift's producer), Ed Sheeran, Sabrina Carpenter, and Lena Dunham, among others.

Past the halfway point of 2026 and when it's still too early to make lists of the best series of the year, we review some of the titles that have premiered during the first semester and are worthwhile. It's a selection that represents a mix of genres and various degrees of intensity: some aspire to be among the most outstanding fictions of 2026, while others seek to fill the space of light entertainment.

Hannah Murray began her acting career as a teenager, but for the past eight years she has been living completely retired from the world of acting. Between the beginning and the end of her career there are two defining moments: her time on Game of Thrones, which made her known worldwide, and her entry into a cult that led to a mental health crisis. Now the actress, who for many will always be remembered as the wild Gilly, reviews her traumatic experiences in the autobiography The Make-Believe: A memoir of magic and madness. Although Game of Thrones is the most popular title in his filmography, Murray has also participated in other productions such as the risky teen series Skins(2007-2013), she played a young woman with anorexia nervosa, or the musical film "God help the girl (2014), the directorial debut of Stuart Murdoch, leader of the band Belle & Sebastian. Lorena Iglesias (A Coruña, 1980) is the creator and protagonist of Filmin's new original production series, Millennial mal. The comedy, which premieres this Tuesday on the platform, follows Judith, an unemployed 42-year-old librarian who mistakenly receives a university scholarship she applied for when she was a student. With nothing to lose, she decides to return to the classroom, but first, she will undergo a transformation process to go from being a woman of the millennial generation to becoming a young woman of the Generation Z.
